History: (X-Men '97: Strike Files I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Unus was hired by one of Madripoor's most prestigious auction houses to lead an expedition into Apocalypse's hidden tomb in Cairo, Egypt. Tasked with locating valuable artifacts, he assembled a team to recover treasures that could be sold at auction. (X-Men '97: Strike Files I#3) - Accompanied by several hired men, Unus entered Apocalypse's tomb in Cairo in search of valuable artifacts. As they ventured deeper into the tomb, he warned his team to stay in formation if they wished to survive the dangers within. Moments later, Unus accidentally triggered a booby trap, activating a series of massive pendulum blades that swung violently through the corridor. Protected by his impenetrable force field, the blades shattered harmlessly against him, allowing the group to continue. (X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Survival of the Fittest" - BTS) - The US government kept a classified file on Mystique (Raven Darkholme) in which Unus was listed as one of her known associates. The other associates were Magneto, Toad, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Sabretooth, Mastermind, Blob and Lorelei. Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Chic Stone; The Opal of Ozymandias was seen next in the pages of X-Men '97 II#3 (August, 2026) where it was proudly displayed during the Madripoor auction. Apocalypse's Horseman Pestilence disrupted the auction to steal the opal but was stopped by X-Force. When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon. Eventually they reached a chamber illuminated by fires, where they found a stone-like figure seated at its center. Ever boastful, Unus casually asked the stranger if he would mind them taking a few trinkets back to civilization to make some money. The figure revealed himself to be Apocalypse's loyal servant Ozymandias, who expressed his surprise that intruders had violated his master's most sacred chambers. He explained that he had remained there for centuries, waiting and recording all that was, is, and shall be until Apocalypse required his services once more.
When one of Unus' men pointed a gun at him, Ozymandias effortlessly incapacitated the mercenary by overwhelming him with visions of prophecy, forcing him to witness every moment across time simultaneously. While Ozymandias was distracted, Unus seized the opportunity to snatch the Opal of Ozymandias from his turban. However, the instant he touched the artifact, he too was flooded with visions, experiencing Apocalypse's past, present, and future all at once. Among the images he witnessed were Apocalypse's confrontations with Cable, his discovery of the Axis of Time, and his possession of Fabian Cortez's body. Shocked that the Opal's power had affected him despite his force field, Unus quickly tossed it to one of his men, ordering him to bag and tag it and inform their employer that they had uncovered an extraordinary treasure. Unus and his crew then fled the tomb, leaving both their incapacitated companion and Ozymandias behind.
