Real Name: Sacino Identity/Class: Extraterrestrial (Rigellian; see comments) Occupation: Unrevealed Group Membership: Rigel Tribe of Fire
Affiliations: Two unidentified associates, at least Enemies: Drax the Destroyer (Arthur Douglas) Known Relatives: None Aliases: None Base of Operations: (New) Rigel-3, Rigel system, Milky Way Galaxy (see comments) |
She also wielded the Rigellian mind-thrust, able to immobilize and/or incapacitate most, although beings with sufficient will and power could resist this to some extent. Height: Unrevealed (approximately 5'8")Weight: Unrevealed (approximately 135 lbs.) Eyes: Solid red Hair: Red-orange History: (Guardians of the Galaxy: Infinite Comic#1: Drax the Destroyer#1) - Sacino was a member of the Rigel Tribe of Fire. (Guardians of the Galaxy: Infinite Comic#1: Drax the Destroyer#1) -
As Drax, apparently bored without anything worthwhile to do, drank
himself into a stupor on a bar on (New) Rigel-3, he was confronted by
Sacino, who identified him as the Destroyer and a Galactic Guardian. She further noted that he had slain Thanos, survived Annihilus' attack on the Kyln prison and singlehandedly carved the Badoon into two warring factions, but she questioned why he would come to a system where he knew he was not welcome. |
When Drax remained seated and at least seemingly barely conscious, Sacino introduced herself and told him to turn around and face her. Instead, he got up and walked in the other direction, raising and drinking from his bottle of ale. When he failed to respond to her demand to turn around and meet her challenge, she and her two associates charged him. Drax threw back an elbow into the chin of one of the males and then rotated to swing his other arm back and punch away the sword-wielding Sacino, who flipped and then embedded her sword into the ground to halt her flight away from Drax. Her spiked-wristband wearing ally next attacked Drax, who punched him away. Sacino next used her mind-thrust to pain his mind and attempt to
force his surrender. Her allies then joined her in projecting a blast
of energy at Drax, and Sacino told Drax that he was a brute, battling
only on the physical plane but that Rigellian war was of the mind and
soul. As he dropped to his knees, she asked if the last words of the famous guardian would be to beg or honor her, but he instead raised his fists and then smashed them to the floor, shattering it and causing them all to drop to the next level. |
.
, As they fell, Sacino hurled her energy sword at Drax, but he
dodged it. The spiked-wristband guy attacked Drax again, but Drax
grabbed and rotated him so that his attacker hit the ground first and
absorbed the impact. Sacino's other ally then dropped to engage Drax,
but Drax swung and kicked him, knocking him out. Sacino landed on Drax's back and put him in a full nelson, but he smashed her back into a wall, and when she cried out, he asked if that would be her last spoken word. As they fell again, Sacino again used her mind thrust against him, asking in frustration why he did not buckle under her assault, but was soon after hit the floor with a powerful impact, and Drax was the only one to walk out of the smoke. Sacino apparently was left on her back, either slain or just incapacitated. (Guardians of the Galaxy: Infinite Comic#1: Drax the Destroyer#1 - BTS) - Peter Quill then arrived and took Drax away for another adventure. |
Comments: Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Oeming.
Bendis and Oeming are both
skilled story-tellers, and the story is good from Drax's standpoint,
but it is really lacking in accuracy of characters, characterization,
etc.
This sort of thing is fairly common with Bendis,
with some name-dropping to imply familiarity with characters, but
having appearances, behaviors and histories that are wildly
inconsistent with established continuity.
Obviously, Sacino looks
nothing like a Rigellian. Barring an occasional mutant, Rigellians are
short, small-bodied, enlarged-craniumed, yellow-skinned semi-humanoids.
Sacino is a pink-skinned (not Caucasian, but light
red-pink) humanoid (with human rather than Rigellian proportions).
Mainstream Rigellians are almost exclusively shown
wearing standard Rigellian headgear and body coverings. Short of the
Rigellian mutants rescued from the earlier Rigel-3 (prior to it being
destroyed by the Rhunians) and the Official Handbook of the Marvel
Universe I#8: Appendix to Alien Races: Rigellians entries, I don't
think we've seen a Rigellian's uncovered head.
The OHotMU entries shows them to have no hair on their heads (which have markedly enlarged craniums).
She is also aggressive, boastful and taunting in
behavior, which is not consistent with the typical logical Rigellian
behavior.
I certainly would not have
considered Sacino to be a Rigellian, but she clearly stated herself to
be Rigellian, and she demonstrated the Rigellian mind-thrust, which was
also identified in-story.
The world is referred to as Rigel-3, but both versions of Rigel-3 have been destroyed, and the Rigellian homeworld at the time of this story would be New Rigel-3. However, that is a common error, and not that big of a deal.
Rigellians have always been a technocratic society, so a tribe, or a "Tribe of Fire" really doesn't make much sense.
And, while Sacino does not
appear to be Rigellian, her allies are even less consistent with being
Rigellian in appearance and/or behavior.
However, when Sacino is delivering the mind-thrust
to Drax, she and her allies are seen projecting energy from their hands
at Drax.------------------------------------------------------->
What's up with that?
I see a few possibilities here:

CLARIFICATIONS:
Sacino should be distinguished from:
Sacino was "of the Rigel Tribe of Fire." --Guardians of the Galaxy: Infinite Comic#1 Note: Nothing else is known about the Rigel Tribe of Fire. Rigellians have always been a technocratic society, so a tribe, or a "Tribe of Fire" really doesn't make much sense. But maybe there are some separatists who liver the wilderness and eschew technology? We don't know for sure if Sacino's allies were in the Tribe of Fire or not and/or how many members were in the Rigel Tribe of Fire. |
![]() ![]() . . Sacino worked with two males, who may or may not be in the "Rigel Tribe of Fire." Both of them either had some sort of domino masks over their eyes, or they were painted or tattooed on...or something like that. Both seemed to be able to fire blasts along with Sacino when she was apparently using the Rigellian mind-thrust. The one male was smaller and with yellow skin and carried a sword. He attacked Drax twice, and was nailed in the face with an elbow the first time and was kicked back the second time |
![]() ![]() The other male was larger, with gray or perhaps green skin, was mostly bare-chested, and he had wristbands and a pair of vertical straps on his torso, each of which had a series of <presumably metal> spikes on them. He attacked Drax a couple of times and was punched away the first time, and the second time Drax manipulated him to take the impact. |
