History:
(Marvel Two-in-One I#53 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Jeannine O'Connell was a psychologist who was assigned to the government research facility Project: PEGASUS to help care for the childlike extraterrestrial Wundarr.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#53) - Project: PEGASUS' security chief Quasar brought Wundarr's friend the Thing to visit Wundarr. Wundarr was asleep and Jeannine explained to the Thing how Wundarr no longer seemed to respond to any stimulus and was generating a neutralizing field around his body.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#55) - Jeannine joined the Thing and several other Project: PEGASUS staffers including Bill Foster and Quasar in a poker game that was abruptly cancelled when a security alarm went off.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#58) - After Wundarr revived, now with an adult's intellect, he named himself the Aquarian and helped the Thing bring Quasar and Giant-Man to the facility's infirmary following a fight with Klaw and Solarr. Quasar was reluctant to receive care but Jeannine insisted he receive treatment. As the Thing and Aquarian faced the menace of Roxxon Oil's agent the Nth Man to the facility, Quasar and Giant-Man both insisted Jeannine release them from the infirmary so they could join the fight. When director Myron Wilburn suggested to Jeannine they evacuate the facility, Jeannine noted if their friends failed against the Nth Man, there would be no place left on Earth they could travel to. Fortunately, the heroes defeated Nth Man and Jannine celebrated with the rest of the staff. Afterward, the Aquarian thanked Jeannine for taking care of him, calling her the mother he never knew.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#74 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Jeannine became engaged to Wendell Vaughn.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#74) - When the Fantastic Four held a party on Christmas Eve at the Baxter Building, Jeannine attended the party with Wendell. Jeannine was pleased to find the Aquarian was also at the party and hugged him.
(Marvel Two-in-One I#74 (fb) - BTS) - Not long afterward, Jeannine and Wendell's engagement was broken off.
(Vision and the Scarlet Witch II#7) - Jeannine examined a robot duplicate of the villain Mastermind at Project: PEGASUS. Raymond Sikorski and the Vision arrived to examine the robot, which proved to have originated from the Toad.
(Marvel Super-Heroes III#3/5) - When Project: PEGASUS' former security chief the Blue Shield allowed Dr. Henri Sorel to test his powers, Dr. O'Connell and the new security chief Firebolt attended the test but the test was sabotaged, causing a fire in the room where the Blue Shield was being tested. Firebolt saved the Blue Shield and Dr. O'Connell tended to him in the facility's infirmary. Jeannine noted the seeming malfunction was the third such failure the facility had suffered that week.
Jeannine went into Project: PEGASUS' computer systems to analyze the various "malfunctions," which she quickly recognized as sabotage. She immediately relized Firebolt was the most likely suspect but Firebolt had caught wind of her investigation and cornered her by the computer, admitting he was working for Roxxon Oil. Before Firebolt could kill her, the Blue Shield defended her. Dr. O'Connell drew a gun on Firebolt but he tried to blast her with his powers; the Blue Shield shoved Firebolt to throw off his aim, saving Jeannine. Trying to defeat the Blue Shield, Firebolt accidentally killed himself with his own powers. Dr. O'Connell pointed out to the Blue Shield that Roxxon Oil would be certain to send someone else to continue Firebolt's work and Project: PEGASUS needed someone who believed in the project to defend it. The Blue Shield agreed to return to work as security chief, saying if Jeannine could trust him, maybe he could one day trust himself.
