KNIGHTS OF ROME'S FLYING FORTRESS
Classification: Terrestrial technology
Creator: Unrevealed
User/Possessors: Knights of Rome, Tyrannus
First Appearance: Incredible Hulks#628 (July, 2011)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: The flying fortress was created with modern technology and could channel the mystic energies used by the Knights of Rome through Stanetech energy routers. The creators of the flying fortress remain unrevealed.
The mystic energies powering the city were presumably of Olympian origin as those were the deities invoked by the Knights of Rome. The mystic energy could be used to create an almost impenetrable, deadly energy shield that cut through any kind of weapon or living being that tried to get through it. It was powerful enough to even cut through Adamantium. The mystic energy could also be released as energy blast or to create weapons in various forms and sizes. Presumably the city was kept afloat by the same energy.
Using the mystic circle and energies inside the flying fortress it can be morphed into a giant humanoid form that can be moved via controls inside the fortress like a giant mecha made of stone and metal.
History:
(Incredible Hulks#628 (fb) - BTS) - At some point in the modern era the flying fortress was built for the Knights of Rome to become their headquarter in their crusade against heathens threatening Rome.
(Incredible Hulks#628) - The Knights of Rome took Tyrannus, Dr. Sofia di Cosimo and Pandora's Box to their flying fortress, which floated three hundred feet above Rome. They trapped their two captives inside a mystic circle in the fortress and tried to force Sofia to reveal what was inside the urn (Pandora's Box).
Hulk and Red She-Hulk tried to invade the flying fortress, which was surrounded by a deadly mystic shield. The United Nations' missiles with Adamantium heads were cut in pieces on impact as well as birds, but Hulk and Red She-Hulk got through by transforming into their human forms. Upon reaching the rim of the flying fortress they were immediately attacked by two of the Knights of Rome, but Hulk knocked them out and then punched a whole into the fortress's wall. The third Knight summoned a bird to fight Hulk, but it was defeated by Hulk and Red She-Hulk. Inside the fortress Tyrannus knocked out the third Knight, who had entered the mystic circle and invoked Hecate and Vulcan. Tyrannus then tapped into the Knights' magic and continued the ritual the Knight had begun to take control over the fortress, which he morphed into a giant humanoid form with four extremities and his likeness, made of the Knights' mystic energy, on top of the body. Tyrannus used the morphed city to grab the Hulk.
(Incredible Hulks#629) - Two hundred feet above Room the morphed fortress was used by Tyrannus to crush the Hulk despite Sofia's warnings that he didn't understand what he was doing, which he obviously did. He broke free and tried to jump back inside the morphed fortress to stop Tyrannus, but he used the Knights' mystic energies to expel Hulk and toss him thousands of miles away. Red She-Hulk followed Hulk, while Tyrannus flew with the morphed fortress to the Colosseum. All attempts by U.N. Commander Bart Gladwell to shoot down the morphed fortress failed because Tyrannus blew apart their missiles with the mystic energy channeled through the morphed fortress' hand. Tyrannus then summoned around three thousand people to the Colosseum to become witness to the birth of a new age by releasing Hope from Pandora's Urn. When the Hulk returned, Tyrannus used the energies of the morphed fortress to create a trident made of the Knights' mystic energy. She shields were suddenly deactivated by Amadeus Cho, who had hacked into the Stanetech energy routers used to channel the mystic energy through. Hulk punched his way through the chest of the morphed fortress, took Sofia and the urn and tried to escape, but Tyrannus flung the Hulk against a wall at the Colosseum and then impaled him with the mystic energy trident. Hulk handed Sofia the urn, pulled the trident's tip from his shoulder and then used it to destroy the fortress. Tyrannus jumped out of the destroyed fortress, shot the urn and released Hope, which had gone mad after millennia of being trapped inside. Hulk inhaled the entity to defeat it and was celebrated by the audience at the Colosseum while he stood next to the remnants of the destroyed fortress.
