ENERGY BOMB
Classification: Terrestrial technology (Deviant)
Creator: A Deviant engineer
User/Possessors: Three Deviant Astronauts
First Appearance: Eternals I#13 (July, 1977)
Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Energy Bomb was a piloted explosive weapon; the vessel could travel at terrific speeds. The explosive power of the bomb was speculated to be sufficient to destroy the Celestial Mothership; it was gauged by its "kill-power" with its highest level called its "holocaust range."
History:
(Eternals I#13) - When the Celestials' Fourth Host came to Earth, the Deviants ruled by Brother Tode built the enormous Energy Bomb in an attempt to destroy the Celestials' Mothership while it was orbiting the Earth. Brother Tode and Warlord Kro saw off the three Deviant astronauts who had been selected to pilot the Energy Bomb, knowing full well they would perish as a result.
(Eternals II#11 (fb)) - Unknown to Brother Tode, the Deviant priesthood, guided by Ghaur, launched a vessel of their own design at the same time as the Energy Bomb. The priesthood's craft succesfully enabled their agents to penetrate the Mothership and obtain valuable readings on a Crystal Key necessary to revive the Dreaming Celestial.
(Eternals I#13) - As the astronauts were almost at the Energy Bomb's "holocaust range," the Mothership's One Above All sensed their approach. As a NASA shuttle carrying Terry Parker and Matt Durgan was nearby, along with a vessel carrying the Forgotten One of the Eternals, the One Above All teleported the occupants of the vessels into each other vehicles; the two astronauts were placed aboard the Eternals' ship, the Deviant astronauts were placed aboard the NASA shuttle and the Forgotten One was placed inside the Energy Bomb.
Realizing he had one opportunity to save the Celestials, the Forgotten One ventured into the chamber of the Energy Bomb's trigger unit and ripped it apart. The Energy Bomb exploded before reaching the Mothership while the Forgotten One fell from its fiery wreck, saved at the last moment by the One Above All.

CLARIFICATIONS:
The Deviants' Energy Bomb should not be confused with:

Three Deviant astronauts were chosen to pilot the Energy Bomb into the attempted destruction of the Celestial Mothership, which they understood would be a suicide mission. Brother Tode congratulated the three Deviants for their bravery. As they neared the Mothership, the One Above All teleported them into Terry Parker and Matt Durgan's NASA shuttle. Unfamiliar with the shuttle's controls, they wound up crashing back to Earth, landing in the ocean and dying.
--Eternals I#13

This Deviant engineer was evidently the primary figure behind the construction of the Energy Bomb. He believed his Energy Bomb could destroy the Celestial Mothership with its payload.
