Powers/Abilities: Silikong's body is made of a substance similar to crystalline silicon, which makes it resistant to pain, cold, heat and other physical sensations, super-strong and highly resistant to physical damage.

    By concentrating, he can alter his appearance, usually preferring a more elegant jewel-like look. He can grow his body to (at least) about thirty feet in height, gaining additional strength to match his height.

History:
(American Dream I#4 (fb)) – The man who would become Silikong was a rather arrogant young scientist specializing in synthetic polymerization for an undisclosed corporation. He was trying to improve a "well-known sandwich bag" when he caused an accidental explosion that resulted in the creation of Formula S. Soon after the explosion, the scientist found silicon crystals appearing on his body that eventually mutated him completely. As part of this mutation, he also gained superhuman strength and other powers, possibly becoming deranged to an extent in the process (see comments). He soon assumed the criminal alias of Silikong, modifying his formula to deprive his victims of free will and turn them into silicon monsters obedient to whoever he would sell them to.  

(American Dream I#2 (fb) - BTS) – Silikong hired Mr. Drossman and his mercenaries, who set up a fake government agency offering a shortcut for citizenship to illegal immigrants in order to obtain people to transform into silicon creatures and sell to various criminal groups, but they had trouble contacting potential buyers. In the process, they captured and imprisoned dozens of people, including one young man named Marco, and Silikong turned several unregistered immigrants into silicon mutates.

(American Dream I#1 - BTS) – Marco's fiancee Sophina convinced the heroic American Dream to investigate Marco's disappearance, which led the heroine to a confrontation with one of Silikong's mutates.

(American Dream I#3 (fb) - BTS) – Following American Dream's battle with one of his mutates, Silikong made it a point to research her, the Avengers and anyone they had fought against, including the Revengers.

(American Dream I#3) – The Revengers (Red Queen and Ion Man) secretly spied on American Dream as she battled Silikong's silicon soldiers. They soon found Silikong's base of operations and attacked it, wanting an alliance with him. He had expected such a visit and readily agreed. As part of her partnership with Silikong, Red Queen had one of her robotic bugs led American Dream to a trap in the sewers, where she was eventually overwhelmed and captured by several silicon mutates.

(American Dream I#4) – The mutates brought American Dream to Silikong's base, where she was imprisoned. Silikong revealed his history and plans to Red Queen and Ion Man, agreeing to mutate American Dream and send them against the Avengers in exchange for contacts in the criminal underground and potential buyers for his mutates. American Dream soon managed to free herself and several prisoners, including Marco. She quickly defeated Mr. Drossman, Red Queen and Ion Man, leading to a confrontation against Silikong, who revealed the ability to increase to gigantic size.

(American Dream I#5) – Silikong battled American Dream as the Avengers and other heroes found his hideout and battled most of the silicon mutates. Eventually, Silikong captured Marco in his fist and used him as bait but Dream played on Silikong's superiority complex to challenge him and eventually make him believe she would be willing to shatter his crystal skull and kill him. Out of fear, Silikong reverted to normal size and surrendered. Silikong was then apprehended and put into custody together with Drossman's henchmen.

    Silikong's account of his own past is rather narcissistic but he later admits that the transformation might have made him a little deranged so the tone of his revelations may be questionable. His plan doesn't quite hold water either, as he claims he wasn't able to find buyers for his silicon soldiers but had no trouble obtaining Mr. Drossman and his army of goons. Didn’t he have any contact?

    It's hard to say how big Silikong got and it's never revealed whether that was his upper limit or if he was just limited by the height of the ceiling. In some panels, he was large enough to hold an adult man in his fist while in others, he appeared a lot smaller. Could he be gaining mass from the Kosmos dimension like Hank Pym or some other similar place?

    Silikong's original eye color was impossible to determine even though we do see his eyes in the flashback to his origin in American Dream I#4. However, the flashback is colored in a sepia or grayish tone, making his eyes simply appear gray and not reflecting his true eye color...  --Proto-Man

Earth-982's Silikong should be distinguished from:

Mr. Drossman

Mr. Drossman was the leader of a band of mercenaries following Silikong's orders, presumably for money. He was in charge of mercs herding migrants on trucks in the guise of a fake government agency when American Dream interrupted the operation and nearly overpowered the whole gang.  Using a special remote, Mr. Drossman activated some of Silikong's silicon mutates to battle the hero and when American Dream jumped into a tank of water to save one of them, Mr. Drossman left two of his men behind and headed back to base. Later, when American Dream was captured by an army of mutates, Mr. Drossman stole her disk launchers and was seen trying to figure out how they work. He didn't get far as Dream soon escaped and easily overpowered him, retaking her launchers. In the ensuing battle between American Dream and Silikong, Mr. Drossman tried to regroup and coordinate his men to no avail, especially once the Avengers and SHIELD arrived. He was eventually disarmed by Bluestreak and taken in custody.

Drossman was proficient with fireweapons and unarmed combat but far from the level of American Dream.
