History:
(Howard the Duck Newspaper Strip (June 24th-July 1st, 1977)) - Larraine was born with a large nose and grew up believing it to be a liability. Later in life, she was introduced to Pop Syke's self-help books, such as his best selling "Think Yourself Human" and its obscure anecdotal philosophies, that enabled her to overcome her liability by instilling in her the consciousness of success. She also purchased one of Pop Syke's Psycho Prosthetic helmets and used it, unaware it was mentally controlling her mind.

Larraine, having newfound confidence, became an exotic dancer and headliner at a club called the Café du Cleveland, one of the city's sleaziest night spots, and performed acrobatic and balancing feats using her ample nose to the delight of the audience. Her first performance involved an audience member named Ted Mack whom she was able to lift and toss in the air using her nose.

Larraine sought new and unusual things to add to her act and sent an employee of the Café du Cleveland out in the streets to hire somebody to take part in her performance. Coming upon Howard the Duck while out walking, he convinced the fowl to join her act for the promise of being paid 10 bucks as well as a way for him to break out into showbiz. Broke and needing the money Howard agreed. He was placed in a chair on stage and Larraine began an exotic dance culminating with her removing her veil, revealing her massive round nose. Larraine then began her acrobatic balancing act and, in its finale, lifted the chair Howard was seated in into the air and tossed him. After the act Howard approached Larraine in her dressing room demanding his 10 bucks and she paid him while telling him about how Pop Syke's self-help book "Think Yourself Human" had helped her. Sensing Howard was being negative she then placed a Psycho Prosthetic helmet on her head to demonstrate Pop Syke's life-changing device, saying it instilled a sense of ultra-relaxation that lulled you into a posture of success. Activating the helmet, Larraine, under the device's mind control, produced a gun and robbed Howard of the 10 bucks he was just paid and placed it inside an envelope addressed to Pop Syke's Hayseed Wisconsin farm. Removing the helmet and feeling refreshed, yet unaware of what took place, she handed Howard the envelope to mail on his way home.

Comments: Created by Steve Gerber and Gene Colan.

Larraine used a fake French accent to banter with her audience. She was a female version of the French literary character Cyrano de Bergerac. It is unknown if she attended Pop Syke's seminar at the Hotel Dyspepsia, but it was highly likely she did so. I consider Larraine to be some type of low-level mutant, having been born with such a large yet strong and agile nose. No longer under Pop Syke's mental control, I wonder if she continued to have the confidence at being an exotic dancer and stage performer or if she fell back into seeing her nose as being a liability in life. She may have become a criminal and used her talented nose to commit daring crimes to make money. After all, she did appear to have the nose for it...HA...HA...HA...

CLARIFICATIONS:
Larraine has no known connections to:

Café du Cleveland

This was a sleazy nightclub in Cleveland where Larraine performed her exotic dances and acrobatic feats using her large nose. Although sleazy it appeared to be popular and boasted a large audience for her shows. An employee of the club hired Howard the Duck, who was walking down the street, for 10 bucks to take part in Larraine's next performance.
