 History:
        (The Supernatural#3 (fb) -
BTS) - The Headless Horseman and his ally Scarecrow (a man apparently
made of living straw) were the protectors of a small village full of
zealously pious inhabitants. The Horseman himself was devout, believing
his powers came from the fires of Heaven.

(The Supernatural#3)
        - The villainous Jack O'Lantern teleported two of the heroic but
monstrous Supernaturals, Ghost Rider and Black Cat, to the village,
where the local priest and a torch wielding mob confronted them almost
immediately to denounce them as witches and demons. Responding to the
villagers' cries, the Horseman and Scarecrow showed up to take down the
intruders. Leaving Black Cat to deal with Scarecrow, Ghost Rider went
for the Horseman, who responded by throwing a flaming pumpkin at the
undead biker. However, this proved ineffective against the already fiery
Rider, who retaliated by encircling the Horseman and his steed within a
wall of flames. The Supernatural then shouted for his compatriot to join
him in departing the village, only to find she had been captured by the
        Scarecrow.

(The Supernatural#3 -
BTS) - Ghost Rider surrendered at the threat of harm being done
        to his teammate.

(The Supernatural#3) - While Black Cat was placed in a noose atop a gallows waiting to be hanged, the Horseman joined three other riders, one of them Scarecrow, in suspending Ghost Rider from chains between their four steeds, each equine's saddle attached by a chain to one of the Rider's limbs, in the Horseman's case the Ghost Rider's right arm. While Black Cat was being executed, the Horsemen and cohorts each rode in separate directions, literally pulling Ghost Rider apart limb from limb.

It's entirely feasible that the Headless
Horseman is a hero, as he was considered his village's protector and
believed those he were fighting were demons (which strictly speaking one
was) who endangered the people of his village (which was incorrect).
It's uncertain if he knew he was assisting Jack O'Lantern, but given
that villain's demonic evil and the Horseman's avowed allegiance to
        Heaven it seems unlikely.

Since Jack O'Lantern apparently threw the
Supernaturals across time as well as space, it's impossible to say for
sure whether or not the Horseman and Scarecrow were in the past or the
        present of Earth-Chaos.

I've only listed the two Supernaturals that
the Horsemen actually encountered as enemies, but it seems a safe bet
that he'd be similarly hostile to the rest of the team if he ever met
        them.
