History:
(Rogue & Gambit#5 (fb) - BTS) - Charmaine Grand developed the mutant ability to create duplicates of herself and then divide her energies into the duplicates. Later, she realized she could do the same with others, taking their memories and powers and putting them into generated duplicates. She came up with the idea to create an island resort and lure mutants there, then she could have access to their powers and memories. To do so, Grand created two primary duplicates of herself to contain her power. One, Dr. Grand, wore a scarf over her neck to hide scars around her neck, which would reveal the imperfection of the duplicate. Another, Lavish, wore dark robes and a hood and aggressively used psychic powers to keep the peace on the island.

(Rogue & Gambit#1 (fb) - BTS) - Charmaine Grand established a base on the remote Paraiso Island. Grand advertised the island as a resort where mutants could relieve themselves of trauma. Mutants would arrive and be assigned rooms, with couples being assigned together, and Grand would begin therapy sessions with them and slowly drain their powers and memories, placing them in husks. Over time, word of mutants going missing there began to spread.

(Rogue & Gambit#3 (fb) - BTS) - When mutants were used up, or drained of enough power, they were sent to the local hospital and placed in beds to stabilize them. Others were kept on slabs in Grand's headquarters, where Lavish watched over them.

(Rogue & Gambit#1 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Grand treated patients including Janie, Theo, Jason, Raya, and a horned girl.

(Rogue & Gambit#1) - Lavish hunted down Jason, Raya, and others as they sought to escape the island. Rogue and Gambit arrived on the island and Dr. Grand met them as they exited the plane. She informed them that they would be sharing a room as it would help to foster intimacy.

(Rogue & Gambit#2 (fb) - BTS) - As she did with every patient, Grand took a map of Rogue and Gambit's brain patterns, explaining that it would help her to streamline therapy.

(Rogue & Gambit#2) - Rogue and Gambit attended their first therapy session, where Grand focused on their first meeting and their complicated long relationship. Later, Dr. Grand and Lavish watched on the cameras as Rogue and Gambit broke through their security system and found some of the bodies in stasis after battling some of the duplicates.

(Rogue & Gambit#3 (fb) - BTS) - Grand and Lavish took away the memories of what Rogue and Gambit had discovered, then Grand continued her sessions with them.

(Rogue & Gambit#3) - Grand helped Rogue and Gambit confront the difficult moments in their relationship that had impacted the trust in their relationship. Later, Rogue and Gambit, realizing their powers and memories were failing, found the amnesiac mutants at the hospital, then discovered a room full of their own duplicates, who then attacked the two heroes. Lavish then attacked them, using psychic powers to defeat them as she bragged that their power and memories would allow her own power to increase.

(Rogue & Gambit#4) - Lavish began draining more energy from Rogue and Gambit, creating dozens of duplicates for them to fight, and she was determined to leave them as lifeless husks. Gambit and Rogue fought back, and Lavish began to show scars all over her body from over-use of her power, so she had Dr. Grand bring her one of the duplicates with healing powers. Lavish drained the duplicate, healing herself, and the duplicate faded away. Rogue and Gambit isolated themsevles with an unconscious Dr. Grand.

(Rogue & Gambit#5) - Rogue pulled the ribbon off the Dr. Grand husk and saw her deep scars underneath. She punched the husk, restoring true control of her powers to the real Dr. Grand. Grand called out in pain, unable to contain all the pain from the memories she was carrying, so she created a copy of herself to share the pain, then created more. As Lavish gathered the remaining husks around her to kill Rogue and Gambit, Rogue activated her powers and absorbed all of their skills and memories as the husks burned away. Rogue was shocked when Lavish herself faded away, revealing that she was a husk as well. Rogue later returned the memories and powers stolen by Grand to all of the mutants in the hospital.

So this character is a bit of an enigma, and extraordinarily powerful. She's definitely a bit difficult to pinpoint. It appears that Charmaine Grand has a tremendous power and that she created duplicates, or husks, of herself and she divided her power and memories between the forms. The husks sometimes have no memories of their host body, and sometimes do not, which makes this character a bit like Multiple Man when his dupes don't remember that they have a primary host. Grand's two primary self-duplicates in this series: Dr. Grand and Lavish. Dr. Grand seemed to be a talented therapist with no powers, and Lavish seemed to be a bloodthirsty and cruel assassin with psychic powers and the ability to create more husks. Grand's powers are a bit ill-defined and confusing, but she is extremely powerful, almost to the point of reality manipulation it seems.
