History:
(Drax the Destroyer I#1 (fb) - BTS) - In the small town of Coot's
Bluff, Alaska, elementary school student Dex befriended Cammi Benally.
Dex's sister taught an Aikido class, but he had little interest in
taking it.
(Drax the Destroyer I#1) - When Cammi got bully Doug Brenner in trouble in class, she warned Dex to watch himself afterward. Outside, Dex and Cammi saw a shooting star, not knowing it was a crashing spaceship. The next day, Dex (overcoming his nerves) and Cammi hiked up to find where the "star" had crashed, and they saw threatening aliens Paibok and Lunatik standing in the woods.
(Drax the Destroyer I#2) - As Cammi tried negotiating with the aliens, Dex fled while screaming. After vomiting and wetting himself, Dex hid in the woods for hours until Cammi walked by, then he revealed himself to her and, frightened, followed her back to the city. Back in Coot's Bluff, they saw the aliens, including the Blood Brothers, attacking the civilians and standing over the body of Drax the Destroyer.
(Drax the Destroyer I#3) - Dex saw Cammi ask the Blood Brothers for Drax's body to be placed in her care, but they kicked the body over a cliff instead. Dex followed Cammi out to the woods to look over the corpse, where he told her that he thought she was something special. Cammi helped Dex realize that his parents had likely been taken hostage by the aliens with the rest of the town. Dex found a payphone and tried to call the Avengers and the Fantastic Four for help, but he couldn't get through.
(Drax the Destroyer I#4) - Dex reunited with Cammi and was surprised to see that Drax had come back to life. He listened as Cammi confronted her mother, Mavis Benally, who had been seemingly killed by the aliens and then reanimated (it was actually Paibok). Soon, the aliens were defeated and Cammi chose to go to space with Drax. She left a note for Dex, promising she was going to be happy, and Dex reunited with his parents, who didn't seem to realize that he'd been missing. Dex spoke to the bodybag seemingly containing Cammi's mother, explaining what had happened.
