History:

(Blackstone the Magician#3/2 (fb) - BTS) - Clon was the assistant to Egbert Garwood, an heir to the Garwood estate. A bizarre condition of the will was that the heir had to spend the night in the house on the "Isle of Doom." However, every Garwood heir who stayed there died on their first night, rumored to be by a ghost, but it was actually perpetrated by Egbert, who would dress up in a swan costume and climb down the house's chimney to murder the Garwood. Clon would allay suspicion by asserting that Egbert never crossed the water, yet intimidated guests with stories of a ghost.

(Blackstone the Magician#3/2) - With Sandra and Egbert as the last two heirs, it was Sandra's turn to stay on the Isle. Scared, she gained Blackstone the magician's help, who traveled with her and his assistant Rhoda Brent. In charge of the Isle, Egbert gave permission and Clon took them across by small motor boat. Clon tried to have only Blackstone stay the night and saw through the ruse where Sandra and Rhoda also tried to stay the night. Clon held them at gunpoint, but Blackstone knocked him out, then revealed the duplicitous Egbert. Blackstone and Rhoda took Egbert and Clon off to be convicted.

The "Isle of Doom" is an overly dramatic name for a small island where murders were committed, so I strongly doubt that it was the official title but rather an informal name given by the Garwood family.

Clon is portrayed and unkindly drawn as dim-witted in a comic where characters' roles were oft reflected in their depiction.

CLARIFICATIONS :
Clon has no known connections to:

Egbert Garwood

Egbert Garwood was one of two surviving heirs to the Garwood estate. His father had left his fortune to whoever could survive the night on the family-owned "Isle of Doom," which was tended to by his assistant Clon. Egbert quietly watched the house by day. However, Egbert secretly dressed in an oversized swan costume ("a king swan") patrolling the lake when a new Garwood arrived to stay the night on the Isle. He carried a rope ladder with him to climb down the chimney and murdered any Garwood, intending to do the same to his cousin Sandra, leaving him the sole heir. However, Blackstone the magician saw through the charade as the "swan" never took flight like the other swans when startled (such as by well-aimed gunfire). With Blackstone's bullets hitting closer, Egbert surrendered. Blackstone then took Egbert and Clon off to be convicted.

Sandra Garwood

Sandra Garwood was one of two surviving heirs to the Garwood estate. Her uncle had left his fortune to whoever could survive the night on the family-owned "Isle of Doom," which was tended to by her cousin Egbert via his assistant Clon. Sandra was frightened of staying the night on the Isle house as any Garwood died on the first night, seemingly from a ghost. Sandra contracted Blackstone the magician's help. Blackstone's assistant Rhoda Brent helped calm her while Blackstone looked into the matter until all were held at gunpoint by Clon. Blackstone quickly overpowered him and with the mystery solved, left Sandra to collect the estate while her cousin and Clon were taken to jail.
