History:
(Fantastic Four I#169) - While a depressed Ben Grimm was burying his sorrows in drink at Manny's Bar and Grill, the flirtatious Annabelle walked up and asked if Grimm wanted to buy a lady a drink. Not wishing for company, Grimm gruffly asked Annabelle if she knew a lady but the undeterred Annabelle laughed off Grimm's comments and continued trying to spark up a conversation with Grimm. Grimm then politely stated that, while Annabelle was indeed cute, he was not in a sociable mood. Before Grimm could ask Annabelle to leave, however, she changed the subject to his strength and asked if Grimm had done any weightlifting. Recalling his time as the Thing, Grimm sarcastically remarked that he lifted a ton or so here and there, prompting Annabelle to laugh at the perceived joke. Grimm then finally told Annabelle to get lost, angering Annabelle into getting another man, Wilbur, involved. Annabelle then watched in awe as Wilbur started a bar fight with Ben Grimm, cheering him on until Grimm knocked Wilbur into a table shared by Wilbur's friends. She then watched as Jerry and another man tossed Grimm out of the bar, only for Grimm to bust immediately back into the bar, terrifying Annabelle and knocking another man, Harry, into a table. The bar fight then escalated until Human Torch and Mister Fantastic arrived seeking Grimm, at which point Annabelle became smitten to learn that Ben Grimm really was the Thing. Admitting she had heard that Grimm had lost his strength, Annabelle asked if Grimm could still do anything strong for her, to which Grimm replied by crushing a beer can in his hand and walking off. As he left, he tossed the beer can down and remarked that Annabelle could save the can for her boyfriends to marvel over.

Jerry's full first name is revealed in the Official Marvel Index to the Fantastic Four I#9. He is only ever called by his nickname of "Jer" in Fantastic Four I#169. Additionally, we only see part of the sign of Manny's Bar & Grill and no one mentions the bar by name in Fantastic Four I#169. Official Marvel Index to the Fantastic Four I#9 also establishes its full name.

Manny's Bar & Grill

Manny's Bar & Grill was a New York City bar in which Ben Grimm went to in an effort to drink away his depression at no longer being the Thing. While Grimm was drinking, female patron Annabelle attempted to flirt with him but when he told her to get lost, Annabelle manipulated another man, Wilbur, into fighting with Grimm. Grimm was then tossed out of the bar by Jerry, only to return and renew the bar fight until Wilbur and his friends hit Grimm with clubs. Grimm's former teammates, Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic, arrived soon after to retrieve Grimm and Grimm left the bar with them.

Wilbur

Wilbur was a patron of Manny's Bar & Grill who had at least once attempted to buy a drink for a female patron, Annabelle, who declined his offer. When Ben Grimm failed to reciprocate Annabelle's later advances, telling her to get lost, Annabelle manipulated Wilbur into fighting Grimm by promising Wilbur he could buy her a drink afterwards. Grimm made quick work of Wilbur until a man named Jerry tossed Grimm out of the bar. Grimm immediately busted back into the bar and renewed the bar fight until Wilbur grabbed a club and some friends and beat Grimm to the ground. Before they could do any permanent harm to Grimm, however, Grimm's former Fantastic Four teammates arrived and Grimm left with them.
