History: (Savage Avengers I#11 (fb) - BTS) - Mekri Ra became sorcerer supreme of the Hyborian era.

(Savage Avengers I#11 (fb)) - As the young sorcerer Kulan Gath traveled to learn all he could about the mystic arts, he arrived to meet sorcerer supreme Mekri Ra. Announcing himself the next student of Mekri Ra, Kulan Gath was turned away by Ra, who attacked Kulan Gath and ordered to crawl back to his small life, heal his soul and never seek an audience with Mekri Ra again. Humiliated by Mekri Ra, Kulan Gath decided to seek magic in other places with lesser sorcerers. Some years later, Kulan Gath returned and captured Mekri Ra in mystic bounds, monologuing that he had returned to pay Mekri Ra back the favor of humiliating him years earlier. Mekri Ra insisted that while he might have been defeated, Kulan Gath would learn nothing and would never become sorcerer supreme. Remarking that Mekri Ra would not be around to find out, Kulan Gath stabbed a knife into Mekri Ra's stomach and cut upwards, removing Mekri Ra's stomach and devouring it, learning Mekri Ra's mystic knowledge through cannibalism. With his last gasps of life, Mekri Ra muttered in English that he sensed the presence of the modern era's sorcerer supreme Doctor Strange, whose astral form had traveled back in time to witness Kulan Gath's life. While Kulan Gath's Stygian ears found the English language to be mere gibberish spoken by Mekri Ra, Mekri Ra asked Strange to reveal himself and Doctor Strange's astral form appeared to Ra and apologized for not being able to help, as the events were in the past to him. Admitting that he knew this, Mekri Ra announced that his life had come to end despite having tried everything from banishment to death to stop Kulan Gath. When Mekri Ra revealed that Kulan Gath always returned, Strange explained that with this knowledge gained from the past, he would stop Kulan Gath. Mekri Ra then remarked that perhaps the right weapons had not yet been used to kill Kulan Gath and Strange thanked Mekri Ra before departing back to the present. Moments later, Kulan Gath slit Mekri Ra's throat, preferring to eat in silence rather than listen to Mekri Ra babble in tongues.

(Savage Avengers I#11 - BTS) - Twelve millennia later, in the modern era, Doctor Strange used the Eye of Agamotto artifact to project his astral form into the Hyborian era to witness the life of Kulan Gath in an effort to find a key to defeating the sorcerer. While in the past, Strange witnessed Kulan Gath's first encounter with Mekri Ra and later appeared at Mekri Ra's death, where he communicated with Mekri Ra, who tipped Strange off to the possibility of finding weapons capable of killing Kulan Gath. Returning his astral form to the modern era to be reunited with his physical form, Doctor Strange thought to himself how Mekri Ra's brutal end brought his chills.

Kulan Gath's story was mentioned by Dr. Strange as being "twelve millennia ago." If my math is correct, that would place the younger Kulan Gath being a slave of the elder Kulan Gath around 9980 B.C. which does indeed fit into the Hyborian era. Judging from the age of the young Kulan Gath at the time he encountered Mekri Ra, I'd place the time somewhere close to 9970 B.C., given or take five years or so. The young Kulan Gath appeared to be in his twenties when he first encountered Mekri Ra.
