History:
(Tales to Astonish I#27/4) - The Komok are a giant race of conquerors with advanced weapons and technology from an unknown galaxy. Their powers considered by them, are so great, that a single warrior was strong enough to enslave whole worlds on its own. The Komok believed themselves to be so mighty that if a warrior failed to conquer a planet all the warriors who had already done so would return to Komok in disgrace and never again attack an alien world.

(Tales to Astonish I#27/4) - A ship with a dozen warriors departed Komok on a decades long voyage with the intent to conquer planets.

(Tales to Astonish I#27/4) - The first planet to fall under the might of a Komok warrior named Grokor who single-handedly defeated the planet's combined armed forces and was installed as its new king. Grokor waited for his mothership to eventually retrieve him in a few decades.

(Tales to Astonish I#27 - BTS) - One world after another was conquered by the Komoks.

(Tales to Astonish I#27/4) - Mopox, the mightiest warrior from Komok set down to conquer a planet that registered life but was unable to find any. He waited for years alone without anyone to battle and died of loneliness. Although his sensors detected lifeforms, he could not conceive that the planets' life were sentient rocks that proliferated the landscape. With his mission a failure, the galaxy was now saved from further Komoks conquest.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee (writer) & Steve Ditko (artist).

This formula of storytelling was used many times through the years with unconquerable aliens being defeated by their own ignorance.

The main feature of this issue was "The Man in the Ant Hill!", which marked the first appearance of Henry Pym.

The story was reprinted in Atlas Era Tales to Astonish Masterworks Vol. 3 (February, 2010).

unidentified race

(Tales to Astonish I#27/4) - Sentient rocks that patiently waited for Mopox to leave their planet in defeat knowing that the universe was now safe from Komoks conquest.

They looked like rocks but had faces if viewed closely, which due to Mopox's giant size he was unable to do. They also appeared to have some form of telepathic communication with each other.
