History: (Spidey I#3 (fb)) - Curtis "Curt" Connors was a medic for United States Army. He lost his arm in battle and resorted to science to grow it back. Connors developed a serum with lizard DNA but his plan failed, turning him into villainous lizard-like mutate as a side effect. Spider-Man managed to defeat Connors (calling himself the Lizard) and made a counter-serum that transformed Connors back to human form. After the battle, Curt was sent to jail.

(Spidey I#3) - After some time, Curt Connors was released from prison and began experimenting on lizards in his secret lab located in the sewer. When Connors released a batch of mutated reptiles, Spider-Man guessed Connors was responsible and succeeded in finding Lizard's lair. Lizard attacked the intruder but Spider-Man escaped and crawled to the surface. Connors followed him but was easily defeated in the short fight. He seized the opportunity to escape when Spider-Man was distracted by a second bunch of mutated lizards which he had accidentally freed from Connors' lab.
