History: (Fantastic Four I#129) – When the Human Torch approached Attilan, a group of winged soldiers were sent to intercept him, including Avius, Flaidermaus and Pinyon. They broke the Torch's ship apart with vibrations then fired lasers at him. Torch hit Avius' gun with a fireball then Pinyon doused his flame with another blast. Flaidermaus grabbed the Torch and delivered him to Black Bolt.

(Inhumans I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Avius may have worked with Maximus before, as he associated with some Inhumans including Leonus, who had worked for Maximus.

(Inhumans I#1) – When Blastaar approached Attilan, Avius flew up to question the intruder and Blastaar knocked Avius out of the air. Leonus picked Avius up on a hovercraft. They rushed into the Throne Room to give warning, finding Medusa, Karnak and Gorgon there. They warned them about Blastaar but Gorgon wondered if the two were still serving Maximus. Just then, Blastaar savagely attacked.

(Inhumans I#2) – Blastaar defeated Gorgon, Karnak and Medusa then attacked Leonus and Avius anew. Later, they were among the crowd that saw the fall of the Kree Kaptroids then they saw Iridia emerge from an Inhuman cocoon, beautiful and with butterfly wings.

(Inhumans I#5 (fb) – BTS) – When Maximus the Mad teamed with the Kree to enslave Attilan, several Inhumans escaped into the Himalayas, taking shelter outside the city. Avius spied on the city.

(Inhumans I#5) – Avius returned to the rebels, led by Iridia, and reported to them, Triton and Karnak that Maximus was preparing the ark to take the captured Inhumans back to the Kree. Maximus' plans were later thwarted.

(Uncanny Avengers III#6) – Avius flew over New Attilan as it settled in the New York City area.

Comments: Created by Roy Thomas, John Buscema and Joe Sinnott.

The Inhumans have a lot of winged members, many of them forming their own society on Sky-Island.

In Fantastic Four Unlimited I#2, there is a character named Pinius who looks remarkably like Avius, though the coloring is different. It is possible that this is Avius or at the very least, a close relative of his, but nothing has been confirmed.

It is possible that the winged man in Uncanny Avengers III#6 was Pinius and not Avius.
One argument about it not being Avius is the fact that his skin appears to be red with a yellow beak in Uncanny Avengers III#6, where Avius' skin is green & he has a green beak. Then again, it could just be artistic error in Uncanny Avengers III#6. --Proto-Man
