History:
(Spidey Super Stories#7/2 (fb) - BTS) - Seeking to
cause trouble, Vanisher selected books at Valerie's library.
(Spidey Super Stories#7/2) - Vanisher presented his
books, numbering more than permitted for borrowing, to Valerie, but had
no library card. Nearby, Easy Reader saw a book he wanted was in
Vanisher's sizable pile. Defiant in causing mischief, he teleported
away with his stolen books. Spider-Man arrived to investigate and tried
to web Vanisher when he reappeared, but the crook kept teleporting
around the library, picking up more library books as he went. Looking
up library cataloging cards, Valerie and Easy Reader found the way to deal
with him was by magic spells; Valerie selected the powerful book high
past the shelves; the spell required the person affected to be the
spell reader. With Vanisher's next appearance, Easy Reader dared the
book thief to read it and so he did. The spell caused the Vanisher to
be instantly shunted into a jail cell and be confined there for one
year. Valerie, Easy Reader and Spider-Man were also transported and
happily left Vanisher locked up.

Yep, he had his codename on his cloak. Maybe he lived in a place where there were lots of people with cloaks and he didn't want to lose his allocated one?
Physical stats are taken from the Earth-616 version,
as they look very much alike (apart from eye color). It's ASSumed he's
a mutant too, although the source of his powers aren't revealed.
