History:

(King Arthur and the Knights of Justice#2 (fb) - BTS) - Offended by the purity of love in Camelot between King Arthur and Queen Guinevere, Lady Morgana used magic to create an army of beings of animated rock, her Warriors of Vulcan's Forge, led by the loyal but brutal Warlord Viper and his team of warlord underlings - Axe, Bash, Blackwing, Lucan, Slasher and others, to overthrow the rulers and take over the kingdom for herself. King Arthur used his knights and wizard Merlin to protect Camelot. Casting a powerful hex, Morgana dampened Merlin's magic and imprisoned King Arthur and his knights inside a hidden cave of glass.

(King Arthur and the Knights of Justice#1 (fb) - BTS) - Warlord Viper captured Guinevere and swiftly brought her to Morgana's castle where she was chained up.

(King Arthur and the Knights of Justice#1) - To counter Morgana's machinations, Merlin summoned an amateur American football team from the 20th Century as substitute knights. This was observed by Morgana inside her rock-carved castle using her magic to spy on Merlin.

(King Arthur and the Knights of Justice#2) - Merlin's new knights, dubbed the Knights of Justice, subdued Viper's warriors and several warlords. Concerned, Viper consulted remotely with Morgana using the mystical Talisman of Blood, but she ordered that the knights be brought into the forest to be trapped, and knights Trunk and Lance were successfully captured.

(King Arthur and the Knights of Justice#2 - BTS) - Morgana magically transported Blackwing's broken remains to her castle to be eventually repaired.

(King Arthur and the Knights of Justice#3) - She demanded information from the newly captured Trunk and Lance, and had them chained in her dungeons. However, the substitute King Arthur secretly arrived and freed his fellow knights and Guinevere. Morgana brushed aside Viper's concerns about Merlin's magic when he was confronted with Blackwing's broken body, and she instead summoned a revealing spell that showed her new captives escaping. Angered, she ordered Viper tackle them and the warlord left; however, Arthur found her first. She unleashed her demonic-looking Watchdog on him but he incapacitated it, then caused a cave-in when surrounded by Morgana's warriors. In the chaos, the knights and Guinevere escaped, leaving Morgana vowing revenge in the ruins of her castle.

Comments: Created by Diane Eskenazi & Avi Arad (animation); adapted by Mike Lackey (writer), Keith Wilson (pencils), and Evelyn Stein (inks).

Earth-93121 is the Marvel Comics adaptation of the "King Arthur and the Knights of Justice" cartoon (1992-1993). There was also a video game spin-off for Super NES (1995) in which Morgana turns into the major end-villain boss with a giant demonic form.

I wonder if Watchdog was one of Morgana's first efforts at creating an artificial being.

Watchdog

The monstrous-looking, pet-like Watchdog was always at Morgana's side in her castle. When confronted by the angry substitute King Arthur, Morgana set it upon him. At this, Watchdog increased its size (likely due to magical means), its head inflating, and teeth and claws extending; its eyes reddened as well. Arthur's magical armor protected him from its teeth and he kicked it aside, wrapping it in a fallen curtain.
