History:

(My Love II#6/1 (fb) - BTS) - Kitt Gantry was big fan of contemporary music and often spent hours listening to the latest recordings, lost in hopeful thoughts of becoming a singer with a rock group. She agreed to a date with boyfriend Mike Martin at the bowling alley.

(My Love II#6/1) - Gantry was so focused on enjoying music recordings that she didn't realize it was time for her date. Martin arrived at her house seeking answers, but soon identified that he couldn't compete with Gantry's love of music, so he stormed off. She felt shocked, but threw herself into music, gaining piano training and reading the latest music news. She felt ready to pursue a career in music, but Martin called to see if she had reconsidered. However, she reaffirmed her dedication to music and he hung up on her. Gantry felt by embracing her music, she had turned away from romance. She went to Broadway, trying for various auditions, until she caught a lucky break. A record soon followed, "My Dream", and Gantry rocketed to stardom, yet she still longed for love. At a recording studio, she was introduced to handsome Nick Colombo, her new arranger and guitar accompaniment who was secretly drawn to her. They worked well together, yet Gantry tried to keep their working relationship formal. After a performance, Colombo told her how he felt about her and she finally let down her guard. The two embraced with a kiss. Gantry found happiness pursuing her dreams and expected to stay together with Colombo.

These romance stories often had the flavor of the time in which they were written, and nothing else to tie them into Marvel's sliding timescale. As such, it's likely that the stories took place at the time of publication rather than being part of the sliding timescale.

Nick Colombo

Nick Colombo was a fan of Gantry's music and felt destined to work with her. Colombo was hired (presumably by Gantry's agent) to do the music arranging and guitar accompaniment. Yearning for romance, yet feeling devoted to her music career, Gantry was quietly drawn to Colombo and they worked well together. Colombo confronted her after a performance and they revealed their mutual feelings for each other, both happy as they kissed.

Mike Martin

Mike Martin was Gantry's boyfriend before her singing career took off. He was frustrated that Gantry forgot about their bowling date and ended their relationship, both realizing that music meant more to Gantry than Martin did. Several days later, Martin called her to gauge her feelings, but she remained devoted to music. He hung up on her.
