History:

(Ultimate Avengers I#13 (fb) - BTS) - The young teenager Ray Connor was involved in an accident that left him blind, but with his other senses inexplicably amplified.

(Ultimate Avengers I#13 (fb)) - After six weeks in hospital, Connor was visited by Stick, the mentor to Matt Murdock (the original Daredevil, now deceased). Stick promised to teach Connor control of his newfound abilities. The next day, Stick and Connor cruised pool halls, with Stick hustling and getting into a fight. Connor was then trained by Stick in martial arts and use of his abilities, including a 360o radar vision.

(Ultimate Avengers I#13 (fb) - BTS) - Stick told Connor of the original Daredevil, encouraging Connor to fulfill Murdock's apparent destiny. Stick's own mentor, Anthony, had been turned into a vampire and soon led the vampire clans, and Stick intended Connor to kill Anthony. He also told the boy of the anticipated war against supernatural forces. Connor adopted a yellow-and-red costume to honor Murdock. The newspapers dubbed him the "brand new Daredevil".

(Ultimate Avengers I#13) - One evening while patrolling, he found Stick freshly bitten by "Nerd" Hulk (a Bruce Banner clone newly turned into a vampire by Anthony). Shocked, Connor was quickly overwhelmed and also bitten by a vampire.

(Ultimate Avengers I#14) - Nerd Hulk brought the unconscious bodies of Stick and Daredevil to Anthony's nest in the sewers, adding to Anthony's plan to build a super-hero vampire army and farm humans as food. Concerned about his missing Avenger, Nick Fury followed the subdermal tracker of Nerd Hulk into the sewers, taking along several S.H.I.E.L.D. troops, plus Captain America, Black Widow (Monica Chang) and Hawkeye. However, Anthony, clad in stolen early Iron Man armor, was ready for them and sent the now recovered Daredevil to dupe the S.H.I.E.L.D. forces, getting close enough to bite Captain America. Anthony and his vampires then confronted their opponents.

(Ultimate Avengers I#15) - Daredevil watched as Fury and his forces opened fire on Anthony and his vampires until Anthony mesmerized them under his control. But new S.H.I.E.L.D. troops necessitated a hasty retreat for the vampires out of the sewers into the night. Daredevil was impressed with Nerd Hulk's strength facilitating their escape. Later, atop a skyscraper, he saw Anthony rip the S.H.I.E.L.D. subdermal tracker from Nerd Hulk and was inspired by Nerd Hulk's defiance.

(Ultimate Avengers I#16) - Anthony's vampire army fed on humans in a Soho eatery. Nerd Hulk challenged Anthony for leadership and quickly decapitated the armored leader with one punch to the shock of the assembled vampires. Assuming leadership, Nerd Hulk had Stick wear Anthony's old armor and ordered Daredevil take care of burning Anthony's corpse. But they were interrupted by the blood-hungry Captain America. Daredevil watched as Captain America drank from Hulk's wrist.

(Ultimate Avengers I#17) - At night, Nerd Hulk led the vampire army against the S.H.I.E.L.D. base, the Triskelion, while Daredevil followed Stick in raiding the labs. There, they attacked Tony Stark before going after Blade.

(Ultimate Avengers I#18) - Daredevil reveled in the destruction and cheered the murderous Stick on. Stick and Daredevil fought with Blade, which led them outside, where vampires were overrunning the Triskelion. Daredevil tasted the edge of Blade's katana sword, detecting over 700 kills from that weapon, and prepared to kill Blade with it. But Captain America, his Super Soldier serum having purged the vampire infection from his system and thinking strategically, grabbed the hammer of fallen agent Perun and teleported the Triskelion to Iran, where it was daytime. All exposed vampires, including Daredevil, burned and perished in the broad daylight.

Comments: Created by Mark Millar (writer), Steve Dillon (pencils), Andy Lanning (inks). Based on the Earth-616 Daredevil (Matt Murdock) created by  Stan Lee and Bill Everett.

He was listed as Conner (not Connor) in the recap page of issue 14 . I went with the original spelling. The recap pages of issues 15-18 also dubbed him "Kid Daredevil", but this was never used in-story.

Connor's Daredevil costume coincidentally matched Earth-616's original Daredevil costume.

This was a romp of a 6-issue storyline. However, it's almost as if this was meant to be a What If...? story, but jammed into an Ultimate title with replacement characters that could be killed off.

Initially, I wasn't satisfied that this new Daredevil just happened to appear after Matt Murdock, the original Daredevil, was killed by the tsunami hitting Manhattan. But I'm starting to suspect that Connor's "accident" may have been arranged, maybe by the obsessive Stick, who saw Daredevil as an integral part of his secret anti-vampire order.

While the indicia state Ultimate Avengers #13-16, the covers labeled the issues as Ultimate Avengers 3 #1-6.
