Powers/Abilities: He/she/it (let's go with "it") has magic powers sufficient to contend with Dormammu, although beyond harnessing a green magical energy, it did not demonstrate any specific abilities during it's limited appearances.

It appears to be an amorphous creature, able to stretch and reshape its body, as well as to extend pseudopodia as well as a head with teeth...it is unclear whether it actually has one specific head with a focal brain, or whether it can just extend/form a head through which to speak as desired.

In the past, it held the Eye of Agamotto (aka Eye of Truth) and Orb of Agamotto (aka the Eye of Prescience), enabling it to project beams of powerful light, read the minds, dispel mistruths, glimpse distant events, and travel to alien dimensions, at least.

Height: Variable (It can easily reach a combined height and width of 15')greeted by Dormammu
Weight: Unrevealed (likely several hundred (if not thousand) pounds)
Eyes: Red (if any; the one straight-on panel seems to show a pair of red eyes, but the other oblique or lateral images don't show eyes)

History:

Exclamation by Dr. Strange (affected by the inversion spell): Hoggoth, you incorporeal bastard!

(Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme#2 (fb) - BTS / Avengers: Roll Call#1: Agamotto entry) - Presumably around 10, 000 BC -- when Oshtur banished Sorcerer Supreme Shamhat Saraswati and the rest of the Bird-Men of Akah-Ma'at to the Planes of Sephirot, after which Agamotto grew frustrated and again withdrew from Earth -- Agamotto took an unidentified extraterrestrial being as his disciple.

(Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme#2 (fb) - BTS) - Agamotto's disciple was granted the Eye and Orb of Agamotto and served as nemesis to the Dark Dimension's Dormammu alongside Agamotto.

(Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme#2 (fb) - BTS) - Agamotto's disciple determined that the fight was not worth the prize, and that good and evil were terms for others, not for it.

(Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme#2 (fb)) - Having taken over Dr. Strange's form, Dormammu sent out a mystic summons to all those -- from their hidden lairs among the galaxies -- who might wish to challenge Earth now that its mystic protector was no more (actually, Strange was trapped in a rat's form):

"Now let the new scheme of things be established! Let the winds of change and fires of creation dance to my desire!
Let those I have summoned appear before me!
From your hidden lairs among the galaxies come! Dormammu commands your presence!
Come, ye dark sorcerers from the worlds of infinite space! Come!
"

As those summoned arrived, Dormammu assured them, "Oh, but things have changed! That power that was given to mankind -- even as it was given to the Hagathri, the Kk'kwathi, the Great Many, and the El'an before them -- that power has come under my control!"

When Dormammu questioned whether they didn't know who he was, Agamotto's disciple approached Dormammu, assuring him he/she/it knew who he was, identifying him by naming, and asking if Dormammu didn't recognize he/she/it.

The former disciple reviewed its past and how it had been Dormammu's nemesis, but when Dormammu encouraged he/she/it to tell the whole story, the former disciple acknowledged how and why it had turned away from that mission.

Dormammu then noted how is power in this dimension was steadily growing and that he would soon destroy the lords of order and bring down the celestials; however, as these beings would know of him before he was ready, he asked these ("the greatest black magicians in the universe") to serve as his lieutenants; in return, they would be enthroned in power for the rest of eternity.

After those present -- presumably including Agamotto's former disciple -- vowed to serve him, he sent them back from whence they had come to await his word, which would come shortly.

(Dr. Strange: Sorcerer Supreme#2 - BTS) - Aided by Topaz, Dr. Strange defeated Dormammu and reclaimed his body, leaving Dormammu disembodied and neutralizing his plot.

condensed-amorphou    The image to the right shows the various beings summoned by Dormammu. The character in the bottom left is a Dire Wraith, and the circle with specks located centrally in the upper portion is the Great Many, but the others are not identified.

We really don't know anything about this character's origins beyond what limited information is given in its few panels. Did it originate on Earth? Was it human and then later took on its alien form? Was it some elderspawn or some extraterrestrial or extradimensional being?

Dormammu repeatedly notes that he is summoning the greatest black magicians in "this universe" and/or the "from...the galaxies," etc. It seems clear to me that he is wanting to control Earth's universe and is enlisting beings in and/or from that dimension, rather than extradimensional beings.

This story obviously precedes the Marvel Tarot -- which detailed the succession of Earth's Sorcerer Supremes -- and this character is noted only as Agamotto's former disciple...nothing is said about it being a Sorcerer Supreme (Earth's or otherwise).
