Powers/Abilities: The Word was an ordinary woman, with some level of business acumen.

History: (Daredevil I#307) - Representing the Red Skull, the Word attended a convention of super-criminal organizations in Las Vegas intended to divide the Kingpin's criminal empire, the Kingpin (Wilson Fisk) having recently fallen.

(Nomad II#4) - The Word took control of the meeting. When Hammerhead asked what authority she has to do so, she pointed out that she represented the Red Skull, causing Hammerhead he sheepishly pipe down. The Word made introductions between the criminal groups, and presented the Red Skull's proposal for dividing Kingpin's territory.

(Daredevil I#308) - The Word tried to keep the various parties from bickering about their allotments.

(Nomad II#5) - During another meeting, arguing again erupted and the Word announced that if the in-fighting continued the Red Skull intended to cease the talks and allow a war to happen between the various groups, which the Skull was confident he would win.

(Daredevil I#309) - The fighting intensified, and the participants of the meeting begin to feel that the Word could not keep things under control. The criminals began to go their separate ways.

(Nomad II#6) - Punisher and Daredevil raided the scene of the meeting and found the Word, who refused to reveal her employer's name. Because the Skull was not pleased with the outcome of the conference, the Word attempted to kill herself with a glass of poisoned wine. Though Daredevil stopped her, she was then, however, killed by arrows when the Hand attacked.

No background is given for the Word. Her loyalty to the Skull seemed to be above just being a paid employee. It's possible she was from the Isle of the Exiles, but there's no way to be sure, and probably never will be.
