History: (Mutant X I#6 (fb) - BTS) - The being who would become known as the Man-Spider began existence as a clone of Peter Parker, the mutated hero also called the Man-Spider.

(Mutant X I#5 (fb) - BTS) - The Parker cloning incident turned into a public debacle.

(Mutant X I#6 (fb) - BTS) - The real Man-Spider allowed his clone to take over his role as hero of the city, preferring to take a backseat.

(Mutant X I#5 - BTS) - Man-Spider discovered crime boss Norman Osborn was the super villain called the Green Goblin.

(Mutant X I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Man-Spider learned Osborn was planning a big move against the other crime syndicates. To achieve this, Osborn used a legion of "demons" (actually mutated clones). Man-Spider contacted the Six to assist him. Man-Spider and the super hero team attacked the Goblin's lair. During the fight, Man-Spider was taken down by the "demons."

(Mutant X I#5) - After catching his breath, Man-Spider rejoined the battle, following Madelyne Pryor and the Fallen to the Goblin's lair. As Man-Spider was beating on the Green Goblin, he mentioned that the public would react strongly to him in light of Dr. Strange's madness (the mystic's insanity had sensitized the world to the dangers of the supernatural). This revelation unnerved Madelyne Pryor, who had wanted to kill the Goblin because he had attracted unwanted attention to the arcane arts. Man-Spider tried to shield the Goblin from Pryor's wrath but was cast aside by her. When he realized she really was determined to kill the Goblin after all, he leapt to capture Pryor but was stricken down by the Fallen. Pryor then used her Goblin Force to kill Osborn and Man-Spider. When the rest of the Six came into the Goblin's lair, the Brute, who had nothing to do with the situation, was blamed for their deaths.

(Mutant X I#6 - BTS) - After Man-Spider's death, anti-mutant hate crimes began to rise. The Brute's trial was labeled as the trial of the century with the Six and Osborn's family in attendance. All those present were shocked when the Brute's lawyer Matt Murdock called the real Man-Spider to the stand. It was then revealed the Man-Spider that had died was a clone.
