History:

(Morbius the Living Vampire#24) - Morbius (in his human disguise) met Crystal at the Aquarian Center during a lecture of Thorwald Liebling. She was fascinated by Morbius' discussion with Liebling about clinical vampirism and how Morbius got into Liebling's face when Liebling told him that this hypothetical vampire had to take responsibility. Crystal left with Morbius and they went partying because she thought that this was what he needed. They went into a disco at the Aquarian Center and Morbius slowly lost control over himself during the dance. When the Basilisk attacked him Morbius showed his true form. Basilisk went after Crystal to satiate his hunger and to get revenge on Morbius because he thought he was close to Crystal. Morbius saved her and a shocked Crystal saw Morbius slay the Basilisk. Realizing he was some kind of vampire Crystal just wanted Morbius to get away from her because he was a monster. Poor Morbius left immediately! :(

Comments: Created by Doug Moench (writer), George Tuska (pencils) & Vince Colletta (inks).

Is it just me or does it seem like this story was rewritten completely after it was drawn. Crystal was clearly meant to be Martine Bancroft, who looked exactly like Crystal at this point. I doubt there are too many albino blondes running around (aside from this story because I counted two in this story alone). Without knowing for sure, the fact remains that Gregory Wright was gone after #23 and Mills & Skinner filled in before new writer Lisa Trusiani joined the creative team and went into a completely new direction with the title.

Thorwald Liebling

(Morbius the Living Vampire#24 (fb) - BTS) - At some point Thorwald Liebling became a new age guru.

(Morbius the Living Vampire#24) - Liebling gave a lecture at the Aquarian Center Live from the Heart. Among the attendees were Michael Morbius (in his human disguise) and Crystal. Liebling talked about how all disease was orchestrated by men himself and was pyschologigal in nature. Morbius began to discuss with Liebling the hypothetical example of clinical vampirism and Liebling angered Morbius by telling him that this hypothetical creature should take responsibility and that even if this creature was created by an accident, the accident itself was a result of the creature's own manipulations. Morbius left the lecture afterward and was followed by Crystal.
