History: (Ghost Rider III#69) - When Ghost Rider disrupted Anton Hellgate's operations, Hellgate ordered his men to retrieve Choam. Shortly after meeting with Anton Hellgate, Choam was ordered to find and kill the Ghost Rider. When Choam asked where to find Ghost Rider, Hellgate assured Choam that he would point Choam in the right direction and all Choam had to do was spill blood onto the streets and Ghost Rider would come to him. Agreeing to Hellgate's orders, Choam went to Cypress Hills, Brooklyn, where he rampaged until Ghost Rider showed up as predicted. Choam commented that Ghost Rider had arrived sooner than expected and that he had wanted to kill a few dozen people before Ghost Rider got there. When Ghost Rider asked if Choam would kill just to attract the attention of Ghost Rider, Choam replied that he killed because he enjoyed it. Ghost Rider immediately subjected Choam to his Penance Stare but Choam proved unfazed, prompting Ghost Rider to wrap his chains around Choam's neck and strangle him. At first distraught at having seemingly killed Choam, Ghost Rider was shocked when Choam got back up and punched Ghost Rider in the face. Determined to defeat Choam, Ghost Rider tied Choam up in chains and left him for police custody.
