History:
(Uncanny X-Men#358 (fb) - BTS) - The Barodi are apparently a group of smugglers dwelling on a world known only as "a traders' planet," in the city of Kuth and guarding the warp gate present there. Kuth lies across the "flats," a dangerous stretch of terrain teaming with predators and ravaged by storms. The flats are almost unnavigable by low-flying craft. The Chnitt, whose mothership occupied an orbital position around the planet and prevented any space exodus, did not interfere with the gate because they would have to break their blockade by traveling their with their mothership.

Whether the Barodi are a natives of the traders' planet (or a tribe of the natives), or whether they originate from another world is unrevealed. If the latter, it is unrevealed whether the population on the traders' planet is the entire population, or whether some specific fragment of it.
The origins of the warp gate are unrevealed.

(Uncanny X-Men#358 - BTS) - Seeking the means off of the traders' planet and to destroy the Chnitt,  Karel (an alien who had crash-landed on the traders' planet after being shot down by the Chnitt), led his allies, Lucas Bishop and Deathbird, to Kuth in hopes of accessing the warp portal. After braving the perils of the flats, the trio arrived in Kuth.

(Uncanny X-Men#358) - Karel pointed out the Barodi controlling the gate, noting that while they could be bought, neither he nor his allies had any money with which to pay them. As he asked for other options, the Chnitt mothership appeared (the Chnitt having been warned by Karel's seeming ally, Tu), breaking their orbital blockade to stop Karel. The Chnitt assaulted Kuth, slaughtering the Barodi and apparently seeking to destroy the warp gate and/or slay Karel. Thousands of Barodi apparently perished in the Chnitt assault (one can apparently be seen lamenting over a fallen friend or relative on the right), but Bishop scaled one of the buildings and hurled one of Karel's nullifier charges into the mothership, destroying it, while Karel and Deathbird headed for the portal. Karel made it through the portal just before it collapsed, reduced to rubble, though Deathbird stayed behind and waited for Bishop.
The pair planned to depart the traders' planet and continue their journey back to Earth.

Comments: Created by Steve Seagle, Joseph Harris, Chris Bachalo, and Tim Townsend.

I guess I'm ASSuming that the Barodi are both the beings referred to as the smugglers, as Karel notes the city Kuth to be the smugglers city, and to contain the warp gate. At the gate, Karel points out the Barodi as the controllers of the gate, and notes that they can be bought.
That is pretty much the extent of their description in the comic, and I may have misinterpreted something...but that's how it seems to be.
    Anyone see anything else?
