POSSE

Membership: None identified (at least 8 members)

Purpose: Mercenaries

Affiliations: Frederick Penner

Enemies: Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch/Noble Kale), Next Wave (Agent-X/James Burley, Snare/Robert Fielder, Turk/Todd Flaminirezck), Shriker (Jack D'Auria), Team (Stacy Dolan, Kalmanu, Ski Sokolowski, Tempest, Sean Tully), Wolverine (Logan/James Howlett)

Base of Operations: Mobile

First Appearance: Ghost Rider III#56 (December, 1994)

Powers/Abilities: All Posse members wore body armor that enhanced their durability. They used a wide range of weapons, were trained in hand-to-hand combat and each armor possessed its own little extra gimmicks (with unrevealed purpose like the pouches).

History: (Ghost Rider III#57 (fb) - BTS) - Frederick Penner of Penner Security Associates hired the Posse to terminate his former employees Next Wave for going independent and being total jerks to their former employer (they caused some destruction in Ghost Rider III#29 at Penner's HQ).

(Ghost Rider III#56 (fb) - BTS) - The Posse ambushed the Next Wave in Hong Kong. The Next Wave escaped them there, but the Posse followed them around the world to New York City.

(Ghost Rider III#56) - The Posse caught up with the Next Wave in New York City's Chinatown. The Next Wave had enough of running from them and faced them during a parade in Chinatown. While the Posse stayed on high ground the Next Wave attacked them from the ground and caused massive destruction at the parade. The Posse eventually had the Next Wave cornered when the Team and Ghost Rider arrived on the scene (the former because they were called in and the latter because innocent blood was spilled). Caught in the crossfire between Next Wave and the Posse, the Team's leader Sokolowski only wondered why Code: Blue wasn't there. The Posse retreated (ran away like scared kittens) when Ghost Rider and Shriker attacked them on the roof (the Rider caught a Posse member and used the Penance Stare on him...poor guy). Agent-X detonated a grenade to enable Next Wave to escape as well and avoid confrontation with Ghost Rider and the authorities.

(Ghost Rider III#57) - Penner called the Next Wave to inform them that he had hired the Posse to execute the Next Wave for their insubordinate behavior towards Penner Security Associates. Seconds later the Posse crashed through the ceiling to assault the Next Wave, who fled, moving their battle with the Posse once again to the streets. The Team was called in to apprehend Next Wave and they got caught in the crossfire once again. Ghost Rider and Wolverine arrived to aid the Team in defeating the Posse and Next Wave. All Posse members ended up knocked out on the ground.

The Posse was presumably arrested by the Team (they were NYPD after all)

Howard Mackie Mystery Theater presents....the Posse. They came, saw and lost. There is not much to them. They were tech-based mercenaries with outfits resembling other characters like GI Joe's Snake Eyes. At least they didn't forget to add enough pouches for....I don't know what all those pouches are used for.
