Whacked! Cool!

History:

(Spectacular Spider-Man III#21 (fb) - BTS) - A club dubbed the Masochist Marauders was established for people who wanted to get beaten up by superheroes. In order to achieve this, they would commit fake crimes to get the attention pf passing superheroes and dress up to appear like villains or victims. They would also use props such as wooden guns to make it appear more realistic. One was almost sat upon by Daredevil while another was hit by Captain America.

(Spectacular Spider-Man III#21 (fb)) - Spider-Man was swinging across some warehouses in New York when he came across an apparent crime in progress where two men (one dressed as a woman) were being supposedly menaced by two others, one wearing a Punisher t-shirt. Spider-Man swung down and swiftly dispatched the two would-be assailants but realized that they were going down too easily; they were walking into punches and he saw the wooden guns. Next, one asked to be hit or at least shoved, but was chided by the one in the dress. The first one showed a scar on his leg that he received from Captain America's shield.

(Spectacular Spider-Man III#21 (fb) - BTS) - Spider-Man was then offered membership after being told who they were.

The Masochist Marauders may well have been involved as lackeys of various criminal organizations like Hydra in order to get deliberately beaten up, but likely resorted to staging the appearance of minor crimes.

Seemingly harmless, they nevertheless distracted various New York's heroes from stopping real crimes, so superheroes are listed in the enemy category. Let's hope they don't encounter the Punisher.
