Karl the fool

History:

(Astonishing#17 (fb) - BTS) - Karl lived in Wilmach. He was the local fool and harmless. His curse had never shown itself before in Wilmach.

(Astonishing#17) - One day Karl was in a tavern and was fascinated by a tattoo on the arm of a man. The man was Kessel, a burglar and an assassin, and the tattoo depicted a werewolf's head. Karl approached the man and touched the tattoo just when Kessel was confessing a murder to his accomplice, Fang. Kessel beat up Karl, but Fang stopped him, because Karl didn't understand anything so he wasn't a real danger for them.
That night, Karl was kidnapped by Kessel. Kessel had Fang paint a werewolf on Karl's arm, then he killed Fang. Shortly before Kessel and Fang had assassinated Heinman the banker, but the man, before dying, was able to describe Kessel's tattoo as the mark of the murderer. When the tattoo was finished, Karl saw Kessel slaying Fang but there was full moon that night. Karl began transforming into a werewolf, his body became hairy, his face became a growling wolf, and his teeth found Kessel's flesh.

Kessel and his tattoo

Kessel

Kessel was a burglar and an assassin, but was a normal human, only slightly stronger than an average man.

In Wilmach Kessel had killed two men. The last one's body, a man named Peter, was found with some bites and scratches on his body. Kessel in order to sway the suspects, invented a story about a werewolf, which was believed and scared almost all the village of Wilmach.

Kessel convinced Fang, an old accomplice, who had painted his tattoo, to rob with him the house of the banker Heinman. Their plan was heard by Karl, the local fool, but they left him alive because he had eyes only for the werewolf tattoo and didn't understand what they talked about. That same night, Kessel and Fang sneaked into Heinman's house, but the man spotted them. They killed him and fled, but the man, still alive was able to describe the tattoo on the assassin's arm. Kessel then had the idea to find another "werewolf". He kidnapped Karl, and had Fang paint a werewolf on his arm, then slew Fang and... found out that the werewolf everyone was afraid of actually existed when Karl transformed into a werewolf. He died under Karl's teeth.

Fang and his tatto

Fang

Fang, an oriental, was a burglar and an assassin, he was a formidable tattoo artist.

Fang lived in Wilmach, and one day met his old accomplice Kessel. Two years earlier he had tattooed a werewolf's head on Kessels' arm, and they also did some dirty business together.

Kessel convinced Fang to rob Heinman's house. With the fear of a werewolf hanging over the village no policemen were present in the village during night.
That same night Kessel and Fang sneaked into Heinman's house, but the man spotted them. They killed him and fled, but the man, still alive was able to describe the tattoo on the assassin's arm. Kessel then had the idea to find another "werewolf". Kessel kidnapped Karl, and Fang painted a werewolf on his arm, but Kessel betrayed him and slew Fang and... found out that the werewolf actually existed. Kessel died under Karl's teeth.

Heinman

Heinman

Heinman was a normal human and a rich banker.

Heinman lived in Wilmach and didn't believe in the curse of the werewolf.

The same night when the corpse of Peter was found and believed to be killed by the werewolf, Heinman found two burglars in his house. They were Fang and Kessel and they stabbed him with their knives. Heinman fell, spotted the werewolf tattoo on Kessel's arm, then fainted, believed dead. His screams had attracted some people, in his last moments of life he moaned about the tattoo and then died.
