History:

(Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four#31 (fb) - BTS) - The man behind the Techno fragrance scam was a failed model who was considered not handsome enough for the industry. Realizing that money could make people think that someone was attractive, leading to magazine appearances, he developed a fragrance that would force people to the buy the product, even they didn't like the scent. He also acquired golden humanoid robots to help in the marketing plan.

(Marvel Adventures: Fantastic Four#31) - The Fantastic Four, in their civilian guises, went shopping at Doomingbell's, New York's premier store for up-to-date fashion and gadgets, on the same day as the launch of the new fragrance called Techno, which was selling for US$90 per bottle. They were surprised at the large display of a giant golden suit plus Techno people that appeared to be robots offering a sample spritz for all nearby customers. The quartet then split up to do their individual shopping while Johnny Storm stayed behind to flirt with what he thought was a woman in a golden Techno android suit. However, all the golden robots seemed to malfunction at that point and began chasing customers, spraying them with the Techno fragrance in an effort to secure more sales, with the scent forcing people to impulse-buy. At this point, Johnny realized the true nature of the golden samplers and with his sister deduced that only those who smelled the perfume went to but the product. The two briefly battled several zealous androids, discovering how to switch off the androids individually. However, many customers had already inhaled the fragrance that was still in the air and they began moving toward the counter in a zombie-like state. Sue moved many customers outside using her invisible force fields while Reed stretched around the building to prevent any leakage of the mind-altering fragrance.

Inside the store, Johnny used his flame and heat to burn of the excess fragrance. As he passed the giant robot, he saw that it was made of real metal but flew on. Now alone, the large golden robot's head opened to reveal the pilot and the machine assisted him to the ground. He raided the cash registers at the checkout counters and stole the credit card details on the computer. Elsewhere, the only other person left in the shopping center was Ben Grimm, who had fallen asleep getting a facial. The rocky hero initially mistook Techno for the manager but was hit from behind by the giant golden-armored suit. Now back inside the armor, Techno began hitting the Thing and throwing him around the store. The Thing recovered and spilled large amounts of moisturizer on the floor, causing the giant suit to slip whereupon the Thing smashed the armored suit with one punch, leaving the pilot groggy on the floor. The Thing then exited the building holding the thief and the villain was captured.
