History:

(Iron Man IV#11 (fb) - BTS) <As reported by the alleged son of Yinsen> - Needing funding for his experiments and lacking the patience to settle for the slow trickle of funds he was getting from university grants, which might take decades, Ho Yinsen "got in bed with government," and placed an implant in promising young weapons designer Tony Stark's head for the Taliban (specifically Zakim Karzai, Dennis Kellard, Aftaab Lemar, Karim Najeeb, Ara Tanzerian). Yinsen allegedly designed a sending unit without which the implant he placed in Stark was useless; Yinsen smuggled the sending unit out of Afghanistan and placed it with his wife.

(Iron Man IV#9 (fb) - BTS) - Ho Yinsen was captured and executed under the orders of Taliban agents Zakim Karzai, Dennis Kellard, Aftaab Lemar, Karim Najeeb, Ara Tanzerian.

(Iron Man IV#11 (fb) - BTS) - Andrei Gorlovich was hired by Karzai, Kellard, Lemar, Najeeb, and Tanzerian to retrieve the sending unit; he confronted and slew Yinsen's wife when she apparently didn't have it, but Gorlovich did not realize Yinsen's son was wearing the sending unit as a necklace and that he was watching his mother's murder from behind a partially closed door.

(Iron Man IV#8 (fb) - BTS) - Once the security minister for the Taliban, Najeeb turned over a new leaf and managed to get a cease fire in a deadly Middle Eastern conflict. He was said to be the only man the Jihadists would listen to.

(Iron Man IV#8 (fb) - BTS) - Najeeb developed a name for himself as a peace seeker.

(Iron Man IV#6-11 (fb) - BTS) - Years later, the alleged son of Yinsen, seeking vengeance for his alleged mother's death (although he considered his father to have been "a monster") resolved to use the sending unit to activate Stark's implant and cause Iron Man to murder Gorlovich, Karzai, Kellard, Lemar, Tanzerian, and Najeeb.

(Iron Man IV#8 (fb) - BTS) - He was invited to speak at the Stark Industries peace summit.

(Iron Man IV#10) - The "son of Yinsen" took his equipment to the peace summit where Kareem Mahwash Najeeb was going to speak.

(Iron Man IV#11 (fb) - BTS) - Stark used a Magnetic Resonance Imaging device to reverse the polarity of the matrix.

(Iron Man IV#10) - Najeeb arrived at the peace summit with several security agents, including SHIELD agents, the Avengers (Luke Cage, Captain America (Steve Rogers), Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), She-Hulk, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew), Wolverine), and the Fantastic Four (Human Torch (Johnny Storm), Invisible Woman, Mr. Fantastic, Thing), stood by.

(Iron Man IV#11) - Najeeb gave his peace talk, calling upon events of history where peace had been settled.

(Iron Man IV#11) - After Najeeb started his speech, the alleged "son of Yinsen" ordered Najeeb's death and then Yinsen sought to flee while the security forces scrambled.

(Iron Man IV#11 (fb) - BTS) - Stark blocked the next incoming transmission, and sent out a data-burst, instructing the sending unit to send out a ping every 30 seconds, allowing Stark to track his controller.

(Iron Man IV#11 - BTS) - Mentally remote controlling his armor, Stark led heroes -- who had been instructed to arrest Iron Man to protect Najeeb -- away from the site to which he was pursuing his controller.

(Iron Man IV#11) - The "son of Yinsen" was shocked when Stark confronted him, but, via speaking “Gao Yao," he triggered all of Stark's pain receptors simultaneously.

After relating his story about Yinsen and the implant and sending unit, the "Son of Yinsen told Stark about the "dead-man's switch." However, in order to prevent the kid from further controlling Iron Man's weapon systems, SHIELD director Nick Fury had one of his snipers fatally shoot the "Son of Yinsen" in the head.

As the "Son of Yinsen" dropped dead, the Tian-Gou program was executed, activating the Iron Man armors of Project: Argonaut, and the Sending Unit fell to the ground and cracked.

(Iron Man IV#15 (fb) - BTS) - Seeking to find the Mandarin and put him back in power, at some point Najeeb initiated an in-depth search for the famous villain. As part of his plot, he began providing biological weapons to several terrorist groups, including the Jemaah Islamiyah.

(Iron Man IV#16 (fb) - BTS) - Najeeb had his man Darius Faraz, who worked for Najeeb through his sub-contracted company CM Security Consultants out of Cyprus under a private operation contract through the United Nations, equip another terrorist group, Cat's Paw, with biological enhancements. A few of the terrorists were genetically manipulated and interfused with weapon-controlling chips as well as bioelectric impulses that siphoned energy directly from the limbic system. They were also given bio-hard drives attached to their optic nerves, which recorded and transmitted things they saw visually.

(Iron Man IV#13) - At the World Islamic Peace Coalition office in Stockholm, Sweden, Najeeb conducted an interview about his goal to spread peace and understanding through all governments and religions. He left to take a call that updated him on the search for the Mandarin. Finding that their leads were reaching dead ends, Najeeb encouraged hiring the Spymaster (Sinclair Abbott) to help them. Spymaster later attacked Harold "Happy" Hogan to use as bait against Stark, but Hogan managed to drop Spymaster off a high rise, severely injuring both of them.

(Iron Man IV#21 (fb) - BTS) - Najeeb had his men scouring the globe for the Mandarin's rings.

(Iron Man IV#15 (fb)) - Najeeb and his men tracked the Mandarin to the Nei Mongol Province in China, at the An Hu Po State Psychiatric Facility. They toured the facility with Dr. Chen, who denied that there was a Q-unit in the sub-basement but finally reluctantly showed them to the cell of the Mandarin. Inside the cell, the Mandarin sat surrounded by candles and reportedly had not had anything to eat or drink and had not slept in months.

(Iron Man IV#16) - Darius shot Dr. Chen, then Najeeb introduced himself to the patient and offered him his ten power rings. When the patient refused to answer Najeeb, Najeeb grew furious and ordered Darius to kill him. The patient moved unexpectedly, decapitating Najeeb's other aid. Najeeb shouted at Darius to kill the patient, but Darius killed Najeeb instead.

(Iron Man IV#15 (fb) - BTS) - Najeeb was reported missing to the world at large, his last known location being China.

(Iron Man IV#17) - SHIELD found Najeeb's body in China, not knowing it had been planted with a deadly genetic weapon. They took him back aboard the Helicarrier. When Maya Hansen and Sal Kennedy moved to perform an autopsy, the weapon expanded killing dozens, including Kennedy.

The "Son of Yinsen" storyline in Iron Man IV#7-12 (2006), had Yinsen implant a device into Stark's brain while the two were imprisoned in Afghanistan together. This revelation was crap, crap, and more crap.
(Iron Man IV#11 (fb) - BTS) <According to a young man claiming to be the son of Ho Yinsen; see comments> - Yinsen allegedly discovered that neuro implants could cure depression and schizophrenia and perhaps redefine a man's soul, turning sociopaths into model citizens. Needing funding for his experiments and lacking the patience to settle for the slow trickle of funds he was getting from university grants, which might take decades, Ho Yinsen "got in bed with government," and placed an implant in promising young weapons designer Tony Stark's head for the Taliban (specifically Zakim Karzai, Dennis Kellard, Aftaab Lemar, Karim Najeeb, Ara Tanzerian).
Yinsen allegedly designed a sending unit without which the implant he placed in Stark was useless; Yinsen smuggled the implant out of Afghanistan.
Yinsen placed the sending unit with his wife.
(Iron Man IV#9 (fb)) - Ho Yinsen was captured and executed under the orders of Taliban agents Zakim Karzai, Dennis Kellard, Aftaab Lemar, Karim Najeeb, Ara Tanzerian.
(Iron Man IV#6-11 - BTS) - Years later, the Son of Yinsen used the sending unit to cause Iron Man to murder Gorlovich, Karzai, Kellard, Lemar, and Tanzerian. Stark found a means to block the control to some degree and locate the Son of Yinsen as he was being ordered to kill Najeeb. SHIELD agents assassinated the Son of Yinsen to prevent him from further controlling Iron Man.
(Iron Man IV#12 - BTS) - The Extremis slowly dissolved the implant.
