"FANTASTI-JET"

Classification: Terrestrial technology

Creator: Reed Richards (presumably)

User/Possessors: Fantastic Four (Human Torch, Invisible Girl, Mr. Fantastic, Thing)

First Appearance: Fantastic Four I#1 (November, 1961)

Powers/Abilities/Functions: Nothing is known of the specific capabilities of the "Fantasti-Jet" (air-speed, range, etc.), although it was equipped with pontoons and could make an amphibious landing.

History:
(Fantastic Four I#1) - Around the world, seismic tremors had caused the cave-ins of several atomic installations. After tracing the source of the tremors to Monster Isle, the fledgling super-team, the Fantastic Four, flew out to the island in their "Fantasti-Jet".

Landing the jet in the isle's lagoon, the team disembarked and went ashore, where they eventually encountered several monsters (including the Tricephalous and Giganto) and the Mole Man in his subterranean lair. After escaping an onslaught of the Mole Man's monsters, the team returned to the surface and boarded the "Fantasti-Jet," then flew off just as the Mole Man blew up Monster Isle.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Never seen again, to my knowledge -- I'd say that with all the other means of transportation that they later acquired (@ Fantastic Four I#3 and beyond), the "Fantasti-Jet" was found to be somewhat redundant, and so it was probably sold or retired.

I just called it the "Fantasti-Jet" for the purposes of this profile, it was never actually referred to by any specific name.
