CREATURE from PLANET X
Real Name: Unknown
Identity/Class: Extratemporal extraterrestrial lifeform
Occupation: Zoo animal
Group Membership: None
Enemies: Cynthia Adams (sort of)
Known Relatives: None
Base of Operations: A zoo in an unidentified American city on 22nd century Earth;
originally from Planet X
First Appearance: Strange Worlds#3/3 (April, 1959)
Powers/Abilities: The Creature from Planet X was a large ape-like monster with brown fur and two antennae on its forehead. It was about 25 feet tall and had great strength, but showed no other unusual powers. It was restricted to breathing its native atmosphere, and would have perished if exposed to Earth's atmosphere for too long. While in the zoo, the creature was held in a plastic, hermetically sealed dome.
History: (Strange Worlds#3/3 (fb) - BTS) - In the year 2165, a creature was captured on Planet X and taken to Earth, where it was put on display at a city zoo.
(Strange Worlds#3/3) - At the Daily Cosmos, Mr. Pike sent reporter Cynthia Adams to cover the creature for her first story. When Cynthia got to the zoo, it wasn't any trouble for her to find the creature because of the crowd gathered around its cage. As she stood before the alien monster and wrote her story, Cynthia was transfixed at seeing the fearsome colossus, so much so that she didn't notice the other people filing out as the zoo closed for the evening. Cynthia then found herself alone and locked in the zoo, and realized that she'd have to spend the night there with the frightening behemoth. Just then, the creature began to batter its dome enclosure until it shattered, setting it free. Cynthia cried out for help, but saw her situation as hopeless as the monster closed in on her. Suddenly, the Creature from Planet X began to totter, then it collapsed to the ground.
Minutes later, zoo officials -- who had been automatically summoned by an alarm when the creature smashed out of its dome -- rushed in with a new pressure dome for the monster. As Cynthia thanked them for their timely intervention, one of the men told her she was never in any danger because the creature would have perished in minutes once it was out of its own atmosphere in the sealed dome; they explained to her, "We were worried about IT -- not YOU!"
Comments: Created by an unknown writer and Jack Kirby.
Since it had such a massive body, maybe those antennae on the creature's head radiated anti-gravitons to help it support its weight, much like the Vegan race (see Colossus) or the Tsiln race (see Gog).
As this story took place at some point in the future, it's possible that it did take place (or WILL take place) in Earth-616 continuity, or it could just as easily take place in some of the other futuristic Earth universes.
The Planet X in this story probably has no connection to any of the other various Planet X's which are the homeworlds of Groot, Goom, or the Xantha race (...or maybe it does).

The Creature from Planet X has no known connections to:
In early autumn of 2165, reporter Cynthia Adams was working at the Daily Cosmos when her boss, Mister Pike, sent her out on her first story assignment -- a monster had been caught on Planet X and was on display at the city zoo.
Cynthia found herself locked in the zoo after hours when the fearsome creature escaped its cage, but she was never in any real danger because the creature soon passed out since it could not survive in Earth's atmosphere.
Years later, Cynthia would recount the tale to her nephews Timothy and Scott, telling them of the time she was face to face with the Creature from Planet X.
