History:

(Strange Worlds#3/3 (fb) - BTS) - In the year 2165, a creature was captured on Planet X and taken to Earth, where it was put on display at a city zoo.

(Strange Worlds#3/3) - At the Daily Cosmos, Mr. Pike sent reporter Cynthia Adams to cover the creature for her first story. When Cynthia got to the zoo, it wasn't any trouble for her to find the creature because of the crowd gathered around its cage. As she stood before the alien monster and wrote her story, Cynthia was transfixed at seeing the fearsome colossus, so much so that she didn't notice the other people filing out as the zoo closed for the evening. Cynthia then found herself alone and locked in the zoo, and realized that she'd have to spend the night there with the frightening behemoth. Just then, the creature began to batter its dome enclosure until it shattered, setting it free. Cynthia cried out for help, but saw her situation as hopeless as the monster closed in on her. Suddenly, the Creature from Planet X began to totter, then it collapsed to the ground.

Minutes later, zoo officials -- who had been automatically summoned by an alarm when the creature smashed out of its dome -- rushed in with a new pressure dome for the monster. As Cynthia thanked them for their timely intervention, one of the men told her she was never in any danger because the creature would have perished in minutes once it was out of its own atmosphere in the sealed dome; they explained to her, "We were worried about IT -- not YOU!"

Comments: Created by an unidentified writer and Jack Kirby.

Googam's Handbook profile in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update#1 (April, 2010) established this story took place on Earth-59433. The Handbook profile noted it's unrevealed whether Goom's Planet X is associated with that of wooden giant Groot, the hairy giant Creature from Planet X or the sentient telepathic plant Thing from Planet X (the latter two only seen in alternate Reality-59433 and -5953, respectively).

Since it had such a massive body, maybe those antennae on the creature's head radiated anti-gravitons to help it support its weight, much like the Vegan race (see Colossus) or the Tsiln race (see Gog).

CLARIFICATIONS:
The Creature from Planet X has no known connections to:

Cynthia Adams

In early autumn of 2165, reporter Cynthia Adams was working at the Daily Cosmos when her boss, Mister Pike, sent her out on her first story assignment -- a monster had been caught on Planet X and was on display at the city zoo.

Cynthia found herself locked in the zoo after hours when the fearsome creature escaped its cage, but she was never in any real danger because the creature soon passed out since it could not survive in Earth's atmosphere.

Years later, Cynthia would recount the tale to her nephews Timothy and Scott, telling them of the time she was face to face with the Creature from Planet X.
