History: (Captain Savage and his Battlefield Raiders#19) - Captain Wilhite was made the captain of the U.S.S. Sea Wolf after its previous commander, Simon Savage, transferred to the marines. Wilhite brought aboard a new crew, but Savage returned to the Sea Wolf to command it on a recon mission. Wilhite felt that it was a mistake for Savage to command the Sea Wolf because it was no longer his boat, but Savage dismissed his concerns.

After they caught sight of a Japanese fleet, the Sea Wolf was in danger of being seen, and Savage had them dive, then remain silent and motionless in an attempt to evade radar detection. Wilhite thought this was a mistake, but Savage overruled him. Unfortunately, Wilhite clumsily tripped on a door, and the Japanese began dropping depth charges on the Sea Wolf. Savage confined Wilhite to his quarters. Savage had the Sea Wolf eject debris in an attempt to trick the Japanese, but then an explosion made him strike his head, and Wilhite took command.

When Savage came to, he found that Wilhite was bringing the Sea Wolf into battle, and he angrily ordered Wilhite to stand down and return to his quarters. Wilhite tried to gain the crew's support, claiming that Savage was incompetant, but no one believed him, and he was forced into his quarters. Savage managed to destroy the ship that had been tracking them, and brought the Sea Wolf home safely.
