History: (Journey Into Mystery I#105) - As part of their alliance to destroy Thor, Mr. Hyde built the Time Reversal Ray to assist him and the Cobra. He intended to use the device to lead them to Thor's headquarters, and determine who he really was. When the Cobra caught Thor flying over Manhattan, he aimed the device at him and saw images depicting Thor taking off from Dr. Donald Blake's office. Realizing that there was some connection between Thor and Blake, they set off to Blake's office to threaten him.

(Avengers I#23 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, Iron Man used the Recreater to probe the recent past -- Kang the Conqueror had somehow learned of his use of the device (see comments).

(Avengers I#23 (fb) - BTS) - After Kang captured Hawkeye, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch from Avengers Mansion and transported them to the future, Captain America employed the Recreater -- by shining the device on the building, he learned of Kang's involvement in the disappearance of his teammates.

(Avengers I#23) - Upon looking at a view-screen and seeing Captain America holding the Recreater, Kang deduced that he must have used the device and learned of Kang's abduction of the three Avengers. Hearing Cap's challenge to him, Kang transported Cap (without the Recreater) to his future era.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Chic Stone.

Olshevsky's Index for Avengers I#23:
The Avengers' Recreater (last seen, as the Time Reversal Ray, in the first story in Journey into Mystery I#105 [I abbreviate here]; it is stated that in this story that it was last used by Iron Man, but there is no recorded Iron Man or Avengers story that employs this device; most likely, it was confiscated by Thor from the Cobra and Mr. Hyde after the stories in Journey into Mystery I#105 and 106 and turned over to the Avengers; following this story, it is presumably lost somewhere in the 31st century [Olshevsky states that Ravonna lived in the 31st century] because Reed Richards has to invent a heat-image tracer to perform the Recreater's function in Fantastic Four I#66 instead of simply borrowing the Avengers' device)
