Powers/Abilities: Spectre is a gifted swordsman. He can travel through time using technology from Earth-4935. He has displayed the ability to phase into intangibility, but whether or not this is of his own power, or one from his outfit, is unrevealed.

History: (X-Force II#2 (fb) - BTS) - Jon's father, Adam, died while following Cable. He grew a hatred of Cable and sought to stop others from dying in Cable's service.

(X-Force II#2) - Spectre arrived on Earth-616, within a barn owned by the Guthrie family. He was almost immediately confronted by Sam Guthrie, a.k.a. Cannonball. Though they sparred at first, Spectre convinced Cannonball to listen to him. Elsewhere, Cable and the newly-re-formed X-Force team learned of Spectre's arrival on Earth and teleported to confront him.

(X-Force II#3 (fb)-BTS) - Spectre told Cannonball how the members of X-Force would die if Cable went through with his quest to destroy the Skornn.

(X-Force II#3) - X-Force arrived, but were surprised when Cannonball sided with Spectre, deriding Cable's history of his followers getting killed. Guthrie attacked Cable, leaving Shatterstar to face off with Spectre. The two fought with swords and Shatterstar defeated the time traveler. Before he could deliver a killing blow, Cable stopped him.  X-Force left the defeated Spectre and Cannonball (along with Sunspot, who also sided with the two).

(X-Force II#4-5 (fb)-BTS) - Spectre, Cannonball and Sunspot were met by Stryfe (actually an alternate future version of Domino), who recruited them to help stop the Skornn.

(X-Force II#4) - Spectre was among the group assembled by Stryfe, arriving to face down X-Force and Wolverine after their battle with the Administrator at the Watchtower, an anti-mutant compound.

(X-Force II#5) - After revealing her true identity as a future version of Domino, Stryfe gained Cable's trust and the two decided to join forces to stop the Skornn. Spectre grudgingly agreed to help as well. The combined forces of X-Force, the MLF, Wolverine, Deadpool and Spectre arrived in New York to find the Skornn battling the Fantastic Four members Human Torch and the Thing.

(X-Force II#6) - The superhumans launched an assault on the Skornn and the Helix (humans from Earth-Cable who had traveled back in time to unleash the Skornn). However, both Spectre and Shatterstar were stunned to find Helix members were well-versed in their fighting styles and easily held them at a standstill. After Cable "sacrificed" himself to kill the Skornn, Spectre stood by and watched as Cannonball mourned.

(New Avengers#16-19 - BTS) - He lost his powers on M-Day and the energies removed from him were combined with a number of other mutant energies to empower Michael Pointer as the powerful Collective.

Comments: Created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld.

As is true to form for a Liefeld-related X-Force project, Jon is accidentally referred to as "John Spectre" at least a few times, most notably in some of the recap pages.

Spectre names Adam Spectre as one of the fallen followers of Cable, and then mentions his father as being one as well. Two plus two SHOULD make this obvious, but there's always a possibility it's not as it seems.
