He was brought in from Tibet by Doom to help Doom against Nightmare. The Monk ordered the capture of Ghost Rider and Wolverine who were both immune to Nightmare's powers. He supervised Dr. Tinner's work and combined with the Monk's knowledge a machine was built to unite Dr. Doom, Ghost Rider, and Wolverine in a dream against Nightmare. The Monk was connected to Doom while he dreamt and got killed by a backlash of fear when Doom was once again haunted by Nightmare. Doom woke up and wanted to punish the Monk for failing him, but the Monk was already dead.
