First Appearance: Avengers I#143 (January, 1976)

Powers/Abilities: The coyote mutate was an approximately 25' tall biped and not at all recognizable as a coyote, having a much more human build, including hands with opposable thumbs, as well as a semi-prehensile tail. It was immensely strong and was immune to both bullets and blast arrows.

History:
(Avengers I#143 (fb) - BTS) - While based in Tombstone, Arizona 1873, Kang mutated a coyote into monstrous form via his advanced 41st century science.

(Avengers I#143) - When Don Blake, Hawkeye, Moondragon, and the Two-Gun Kid invaded Kang's citadel, Kang unleashed the coyote mutate against them. Blake slipped away in the confusion, transformed into Thor, and confronted Kang. The mutate swiftly flattened Moondragon, shrugged off bullets from Two-Gun and blast arrows from Hawkeye, and then dropped Hawkeye with another swipe of its tail. It then grabbed Two-Gun who was overwhelmed by its power and his own helplessness. Having dodged a fatal blow via her Titan-trained reflexes, Moondragon revived and then used her psychic power to shut down the coyote mutate's mind. It collapsed to the ground. Shortly thereafter, Kang's armor overloaded in battle, scattering his atoms across the time-stream. Seconds later, Kang's citadel vanished, and the coyote mutate went with it.

Comments: Created by Steve Engelhart, George Perez, and Sam Grainger.

I'd name this guy "Latran" after the scientific name for coyote: Canis latrans.
