Powers/Abilities: Yuri Brushov was an important official in the Russian military, involved in his country's atomic submarines.

History: (Avengers I#43) - Yuri Brushov came to the base of Colonel Ling, a Chinese intelligence officer who wanted to propose an alliance. Ling presented to Brushov the Red Guardian, a Russian agent skilled at combat who fought some of Ling's men as a demonstration. Brushov was so impressed with the Red Guardian that he hoped they could find Captain America so that they could pit him against his American counterpart.

(Avengers I#44) - After the Red Guardian defeated Hawkeye and Hercules(who had come to rescue the Black Widow, a prisoner of Ling's), Brushov learned what Ling wanted of him-- Ling hoped to use his Psychotron weapon to overcome entire populations with fear, and hoped to use Brushov's atomic submarines. However, Brushov noted that the Psychotron was seemingly ineffective against the Black Widow. When they put the Black Widow to a lie detector test, she passed it and seemingly proved her loyalty to them.

When the Avengers broke into Ling's base to save the Black Widow, Brushov was treated to a fight between the Red Guardian and Captain America, but Ling brought it to a premature end when he activated an electrical grid the Captain was standing on. Brushov was struck down by one of Hawkeye's arrows in the action, and was still inside the base as it was torn apart by a volcano which came to life beneath it, destroying everything.
