History:
(Black Goliath I#3) - Jennifer had been a patrol officer in the LAPD
for three years and recently was partnered with Emiliano Rojas, a
rookie officer. Jennifer had received two medals for valor in
performing her duties.
Jennifer and Emiliano went in pursuit of a gang on motorcycles who had robbed Stark West's plant. As they tried to catch up to the gang, the gang's leader Vulcan suddenly appeared on the street ahead of them. Vulcan smashed the hood of the police car with his bare fists, making the vehicle crash. Jennifer was thrown clear of the car's wreck and survived with minor injuries but Emiliano was killed in the crash.
Recovering, Jennifer saw the superhero Black Goliath battling Vulcan. As she hoped that Emiliano had died quickly in the crash, Jennifer saw Vulcan's wrist weapon was beginning to charge up for another blast. She yelled a warning to Black Goliath but was too late to prevent Vulcan from collapsing a building on top of the hero.
Emiliano was buried with honors. Jennifer received her third medal of valor for surviving the encounter with Vulcan.

Emiliano RojasEmiliano Rojas was Jennifer Yashida's partner in the LAPD. He was a rookie police officer with one month left in his probationary period. He and Jennifer were pursuing the motorcycle gang working with Vulcan when Vulcan himself stepped in front of their police car and smashed the hood with his bare fists. While Jennifer was thrown free and survived, Rojas was killed in the collision. He was buried with honors.
