.

Aliases: Astral Coven, Cosmic Coven, Enchantresses of Eternity, Sisters of Eternity, Sisters of the Stars, Three That Are One

they have some affiliation with Death, calling her "sister"

Enemies: Death, Ebony Maw, Phoenix Force, Thane,;
while they summarily dismissed Loki Laufeyson and self-immolated after his arrival (see comments), they seemed to just have other agenda, rather than any specific hostility to him, or the Asgardian Tomekeeper Flowa who accompanied him

Base of Operations: The God Quarry (aka the Quarry of Creation), in a realm accessed via a black hole on the "edge of the universe"

First Appearance: Thanos II#4 (April, 2017)

witches_of_infinity-thanos9-facesPowers/Abilities: The Witchers were immensely powerful beings, able to neutralize/remove vast power, such as that derived from the Black Vortex; to banish immensely powerful beings such as the Phoenix Force; and to at least temporarily destroy beings as powerful as the manifestation of Death.

When the power of a god faded and/or when the cultures and civilizations that worshipped them were destroyed or evolved beyond them, the Witches collected these old gods, allegedly feeding on their souls and dispersing their power back into the cosmos.

They can age even a seemingly immortal Eternal such as Eros/Starfox into a geriatric state.

They can also generate flames to destroy themselves.

They typically float in the air, with chains around their wrists: The one in the center has chains attaching to the other wrists of each of her two sisters, while the ones on the end have a second chain from their outside hand connecting back to their other one wrists.

They frequently shared sentences, each speaking a few words or phrases. However, they also could voice their own wills, knowledge, etc.

History:

(Thanos II#8 (fb) - BTS) -  The Witches of Infinity are a trio of siblings (or at least refer to each other as sisters) and are said to be older than any gods.

When the power of a god faded and/or when the cultures and civilizations that worshipped them were destroyed or evolved beyond them, the Witches collected these old gods, allegedly feeding on their souls and dispersing their power back into the cosmos.

When Thanos possessed the Infinity Gems, he sensed the Witches of Infinity at the edges of the universe....in the blackest parts of space.

(Thanos II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Having anticipated that Ebony Maw would ally with Thanos' son Thane in an attempt to take the Black Quadrant for his own, Corvus Glaive enlisted the Witches of Eternity, aka the Coven, to neutralize Thane's powers (which had been vastly enhanced via the Black Vortex).

(Thanos II#4 (fb)) <8 months before the main story> - As Ebony Maw and Thane made their play, Glaive revealed his alliance with the Witches of Eternity. The shocked Maw stated his understanding that this Coven was long gone, but the Witches replied that it had not been that long, denouncing Maw as "Black Tongue."

As they formed a shield to block Thane's assault, Thane asked what they were, and they replied, "The Astral Coven. Sisters of the Stars. The oldest magic there is...There is no power...we have not faced...and not yet learned to take."

The three witches then fired blasts of energy from their hands that stripped Thane of his power. They noted, "The son of Thanos...has fallen...no mad Titan this one."

Without Thane's power, Glaive's forces easily captured and contained Thane and the Ebony Maw.

.

(Thanos II#8 (fb) - BTS) - After a dying Thanos had been stripped of his power and trapped on the barren Titan by Thane (who had gained the power of the Phoenix Force), he resolved to find the Witches of Infinity to restore his power. witches_of_infinity-thanos9-blasteros

(Thanos II#8 - BTS) - Thanos shared his plans with his brother, Eros, and his associates Nebula and Champion. Eros initially dismissed the Witches as myth, and when Thanos confirmed their existence, Eros noted that if they were real then so were the stories about them.

Eros warned Thanos that to strike a deal with them would cost him his soul, but Thanos noted that he had lost his soul long ago. As Thane was slaughtering various worlds and races, Thanos was able to convince Eros and his associated to bring him to the Witches.

When they reached a black hole, Thanos and Eros entered it.

(Thanos II#8) - After suffering massive distortion, Thanos and Eros arrived in the God Quarry and were greeted by the Witches of Infinity.

(Thanos II#9) - Seeing only a graveyard pit filled with ossified corpses of ancient gods, Thanos questioned its nature, threatening the Witches to answer him or have their tongues ripped from their mouths.

The Witches advised him that he was in no position to do anything of the sort as he was not just weak but impotent.

Suggesting a gentler approach, Eros used his emotion-manipulating powers to try to force the Witches to provide assistance.

Unaffected but insulted, the Witches turned their power on Eros, agonizingly reducing him to an aged form.

After he begged for anything but this, the Witches restored Eros but advised him to remember this the next time he thought to use his powers against them.

When Thanos laughed at Eros' humbling, Eros battered his weakened brother, amusing the Witches, as the brothers made their own squabblings look rather pale in comparison.

When Thanos reiterated his desire to restore his power, two of the Witches considered casting them away or destroying them, but the third noted that neither of those options were their place to perform, and she noted that the quarry still held the power of all of the dead and forgotten gods who had come there.

The others continued that the power was not their to give or take but rather than it depended on the challenger: "The quarry gives or takes. Those who enter it willingly face a trial for their very soul. Should you pass, the power you want can be yours. However, should you fail this trial, you will join the other deities who are now frozen for eternity in the quarry's ageless walls."

One of the sisters then asked Thanos if he had come there to waste their time or if he would enter the quarry. Accepting the challenge, Thanos began scaling the quarry, but he soon found his limbs pulled into the wall and his body petrified or ossified.

As he had asked what trickery this was, the Witches answered "No trickery. The quarry has him now. His trial is just beginning."

.

witches_of_infinity-thanos12-phoenix(Thanos II#10) - Recognizing the reality he was living -- where he was Earth's greatest hero, mirroring Reality-19103 -- as false, Thanos threw off the illusion, escaping the God Quarry and restoring his power.

He confronted the Witches, mocking their trial as pathetic, but they replied that it seemed the Quarry was exactly what it needed to be and it seemed like he had gotten exactly what he wanted.

Thanos stated that he wanted out of this place and that he would kill them if he must, but the Witches told him there was no need as he had earned his power and freedom, and -- as they opened a warp out of their realm -- they asked what he was going to do with it.

Thanos told them he was going to punish his insolent son.

(Thanos II#10 (fb) - BTS) - Thanos departed the God Quarry.

(Thanos II#11) - Thanos' struggle with Thane destroyed the planet on which they had fought and brought them back through the black hole to the God Quarry.

Having unsuccessfully attempted to escape that battle, Champion and Nebula were brought to the God Quarry.

The Witches advised the stunned Nebula to wake up as she would not want to miss the final battle: Father vs. son at the end of the universe.
.

(Thanos II#12) - The Witches welcomed Thane to the God Quarry, noting it to be the place at the end of all places, where gods were made and god undone.

One of them wondered which it would be for Thane, but another noted the smell of him that indicated that he was not alone, and the third confirmed that the Phoenix was with Thane.

Noting that "that old bird had no place here," the Witches collectively banished the Phoenix Force from the God Quarry: "Off you go...fly, fly, little bird...tweet, tweet."

Thanos subsequently battered the powerless Thane and then dropped him into the God Quarry, where he was petrified.

Thanos suspected that he would not escape as he lacked understanding of his own nature.

Death then appeared before Thanos, and the Witches greeted her as "sister," noting that that they had not seen her in a very, very long time but advising her that she had no business there.

Death argued that she did have business there, as Thanos was her business, and she explained to him that she had caused his weakness so he would restore himself and be worthy of her love.

After Thanos noted that he no longer needed or wanted her love, the Witches surrounded Death, noting,

"Well, well, well...it seems your business here has come to an end old friend...perhaps you should be on your way...? Yes, sisters, I think you should definitely be on your way."

At which point they obliterated the manifestion of Death, although they noted that she could not be killed but only delayed.

The Witches were nowhere to be seen after Thanos subsequently departed through the black hole exit point, leaving Champion, Eros, and Nebula there.

.
.
(Asgardians of the Galaxy#3 (fb) - BTS) - Eros and Champion departed the Quarry under unrevealed circumstances. Nebula underwent the Witches' challenge.
witches_of_infinity-asgardgalaxy3-faces
(Infinity Wars Prime#1 - BTS) - Asgardian Tomekeeper Flowa told Loki of the Quarry of Creation (as it was originally called) and advised him that it was protected by "elder witches." Loki convinced Flowa to take him to the Quarry of Creation.

.(Asgardians of the Galaxy#3 (fb)) - Nebula slew Thanos and then Gamora but revealed that what she was seeing was not reality because she was not suffering enough. Overcoming the challenge, Nebula broke free of the petrified shell in which she had been held.

Now able to survive in the Quarry without a spacesuit, Nebula confronted the Witches and denounced their challenge as pathetic. The Witches admitted surprise, as they did not think a petulant little child such as herself had it in her and that they expected her to be trapped there for all eternity.

Calling the witches "hags," Nebula told them to get her out of there and give her what she wanted. Nontheless, the Witches told her that they would not do what she wanted and that she did not truly know what she wanted. They further told her that Thanos was dead, slain by the Power Stone/Sword-wielding Nebula. They told her that they could direct her toward a weapon of her own and that she could obtain that which she truly desired.

.(Asgardians of the Galaxy#3 (fb)) - The Witches directed Gamora to the Naglfar Beacon.

witches_of_infinity-infwars1-selfimmolation

(Infinity Wars#1) - Via an Asgardian longship, Flowa brought Loki to the Quarry of Creation.

Spotting the witches, Loki began to introduce himself in hopes of gaining information about his perceptions were possibly being distorted.

However, they instead commanded his silence and stated, "Infinity's End...is...here!" as they apparently self-immolated.

Comments: Created by Jeff Lemire and Mike Deodato Jr.

I don't get why the Witches would have destroyed themselves with what was going on in the Infinity Wars series...it was kind of interesting at the time, but I don't recall what would have driven the powerful Witches to this.
Requiem/Gamora claimed the Infinity Stones and then overlapped reality on itself, creating a number of mash-up/merged characters mirroring various realities, and then things went back to the way they were, and Gamora had minimal consequences for her activities.
