Powers/Abilities: Victor-101 had been trained in military tactics and multiple modes of combat since childhood. As a Spartan, his strength, speed and reflexes were augmented well beyond the peak of human ability and reinforced with cybernetic implants. In his MJOLNIR Black armor his abilities were further augmented. The armor contained energy shielding to defend him against most projectile attacks; even when his shields were disrupted, the armor's titanium outer layer offered excellent protection against most physical threats, while the interior gel layer protected his body inside. The armor's environmental controls could sustain Victor-101 for extensive periods in a vacuum. MJOLNIR Black armor had certain special modifications, including a superior magnification HUD inside its visor, enabling Victor to see up to 5,000 meters away. The MJOLNIR Black armor had a port to interface with A.I. datachips, creating a mental interface between Victor-101 and the A.I. Victor was experienced in wielding both UNSC and Covenant weaponry, primarily projectile weapons. He was Team Black's specialist in wielding sniper rifles.

(Halo: Blood Line I#1 (fb)) - In the year 2517, as a 6-year-old child, Victor was abducted by UNSC operatives working for Dr. Catherine Halsey who brought him to the planet Reach to participate in Halsey's Spartan-II Program. Victor's original surname was erased and he was thereafter identified as "Victor-101." Victor was assigned to Spartan Team Black, which included Margaret-053, Otto-031 and Roma-143. Victor was dubbed "Black-Four" while Margaret-053 became the team leader. They were disciplined by their drill sergeant Franklin Mendez.
(Halo: Blood Line I#3 (fb)) - Victor engaged in a sparring contest against Margaret.
(Halo: Blood Line I#2 (fb)) - Team Black often played in wargames against Red Team. On one occasion, they won a game of "capture the flag." One night, Victor saw Margaret and Otto kissing together in the showers. Victor reported on them to Mendez and they were both sent to the brig. Red Team retaliated against them for their recent lost game and beat Margaret so badly that she lost one of her eyes.
(Halo: Blood Line I#4 (fb)) - Margaret refused to tell Mendez who had beaten her but Team Black met together in the mess hall after her injury and plotted to strike back against Red Team.
(Halo: Blood Line I#5 (fb)) - Team Black beat up Red Team with clubs. Mendez threw all four of them in the brig for 10 days.
(Halo Encyclopedia - Black Team) - In March, 2525, Victor and the rest of Team Black were subjected to the Spartan-II augmentation process, but the augmentation failed and they were washed out of the program. Immediately, they were recruited by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), who wanted Spartans who would report directly to them. ONI subjected all four members of Team Black to the augmentation process again, this time successfully enhancing them. The four Spartans were given modified MJOLNIR Black armor from ONI and thereafter took missions from ONI against the extraterrestrial threat of the Covenant, isolated from the rest of their fellow Spartans.
(Halo: Blood Line I#5 (fb)) - Over the years, Team Black went on many missions together as their bond became even stronger through shared ordeals.
(Halo: Evolutions - Essential Tales of the Halo Universe: "Blunt Instruments") - In 2552, Team Black were sent to Ciudad de Arias on the colony world Verge to destroy a Beacon inhabited by Drones of the Covenant. Roma-143 befriended a Drone she nicknamed "Hopalong" who offered to assist Team Black. Following Hopalong's instructions, Victor scouted into the Beacon and fought the Covenant stationed there. Eventually Roma determined Hopalong and his comrades were all prisoners of the Covenant who wanted to trick Team Black into freeing his fellow prisoners. Team Black ultimately destroyed the Beacon and exited Verge.
(Halo: Blood Line I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Admiral Roland Freemont assigned Team Black to Vice Admiral Alexander Reaves. Reaves had Team Black placed in stasis chambers aboard the vessel Long Time Coming, which posed as a civilian freighter in the hopes they would enter Covenant space in Sub-Sector 35 and be boarded, giving Team Black the opportunity to board the Covenant vessel in return.
(Halo: Blood Line I#1) - When Long Time Coming entered Sub-Sector 35, a Forerunner EMP caused the vessel to crash on a nearby planet; the ship's crew were killed, but Team Black were intact. Exiting their stasis chambers, Team Black began to contain fires aboard the ship. They found the ship's A.I. Iona was intact and from the ship's scans discovered there was an underground facility 5 km from their crash site. To defend Iona, Margaret-053 ordered Victor to place Iona's data chip in his helmet, creating a cybernetic link between Victor and Iona. Iona began seeing flashes of memories from Victor's mind, although these memories were highly subjective.
Victor, Margaret and Otto boarded an intact warthog from the ship (leaving Roma at their crashed ship) and soon discovered a graveyard of similar starships that had crashed on the planet. Victor stopped and examined one of the ships, noticing they were destroyed from within before they were shot down. Suddenly, they were attacked by a Covenant wraith tank from a Covenant vessel that had just crashed on the planet as well. Their warthog was destroyed by the wraith but before they could finish the fight, the Forerunner A.I. 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism intervened.
(Halo: Blood Line I#2) - 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism kidnapped Margaret and members of the surviving Covenant force. Victor and Otto realized Margaret had been brought to the same structure they'd gone to investigate. Victor and Otto entered the facility and destroyed a number of Sentinel robots. Listening to audio feed from the Covenant, Victor learned their leader, Thon 'Talamee, was desperate to rescue his brother Reff, who was one of the Covenant taken prisoner. Believing they had a common desire to rescue family, Victor proposed an alliance with the Covenant to rescue their comrades. Otto objected, but Victor noted they were almost out of ammunition and would need additional weapons to rescue Margaret. Otto drew his gun on Victor but ultimately he reluctantly agreed with Victor's idea. During the confrontation, Iona saw flashes of Victor's memories from the incident where Margaret lost her eye, but in Victor's mind it was he and Margaret who were in a relationship, Otto who reported on them and Victor who lost his eye.
(Halo: Blood Line I#3) - Victor, Otto and the Covenant continued to explore the Forerunner structure, Line Installation 1-4. After another battle with Sentinels, Victor and Otto used up the rest of their ammunition. With Iona unable to find their way through the structure, Victor suggested splitting their forces. When Otto discovered the Sentinels' weapons could be repurposed for their use, Thon 'Talamee realized they were out of ammunition but, due to their alliance, gave a carbine rifle to Victor for his use. When Thon 'Talamee talked about the bond between members of his species, Victor affirmed humans had the same close bond among each other. Victor shook Thon's hand, telling him it was "proof of peaceful intent," then split up to continue their search.
Otto mocked Victor for forming a bond with one of their enemies, accusing Victor of being too tightly-wound. Suddenly, a bolt of energy struck Otto. Unknown to Victor, his HUD display had been hacked by 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism, who made it appear Thon 'Talamee was the one who had struck Otto. Victor pursued what he thought was Thon and attacked it, only to discover Roma had entered the facility to find Victor and Otto and she was the one he'd nearly killed. At the same time, 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism began hacking into Iona's program inside Victor's armor.
(Halo: Blood Line I#4) - 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism continued to manipulate Victor's perceptions, playing on his long-standing rivalry with Otto. Grabbing a Covenant sniper rifle, Victor began shooting the Covenant who had been assisting them, but also blasting Otto. Within Victor's mind, 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism and Iona both observed that Victor had two sets of memories lying on top of each other, due to the trauma and guilt surrounding Margaret's boot camp injury. When Iona contacted Otto to warn him Victor was the sniper shooting at him, Otto told Iona the truth about he and Victor's past.
(Halo: Blood Line I#5) - Otto confronted Victor to try and reason with him; although 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism had stopped manipulating Victor's feed, his resurfaced trauma had rendered him irrational. When Iona tried to reason with him, Victor took out her datachip and tried to crush it under his foot but Otto saved Iona. When Margaret heard Victor over her communications feed, she contacted him and told him she forgave him for what happened. Victor was stunned and Otto returned the datachip to Victor's helmet. Stunned back to normalcy, Victor told Otto that the night they beat up Red Team felt better than anything in his life. As 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism eliminated the remaining Covenant, Team Black regrouped, discovering Roma had survived Victor's attack on her, telling him, "I'm just lucky you're such a crappy shot." Victor was glad that the wounds he'd inflicted had been exagerrated within his hud by 6-8-6 Ebullient Prism.
Team Black went to exit the Forerunner facility but outside discovered about 100 Covenant soldiers waiting for them. Otto called it "almost a fair fight" for the Covenant. The four of them charged into battle.
(Halo: Escalation I#8 (fb) - BTS) - On July 25, 2557, Victor and the rest of Team Black were assigned to investigate the science station Ivanoff, which had been attacked by an unidentified threat.
(Halo: Escalation I#9 (fb)) - Arriving at Ivanoff, Team Black found the inert form of the Didact, a powerful Forerunner. When the Didact awakened, he attacked and slew Victor and the rest of Team Black.
(Halo: Escalation I#8) - Victor and the bodies of the rest of Team Black were found by Blue Team, who had been sent to investigate Team Black's lack of communication.

In Fred Van Lente's stories, they're pretty consistently "Team Black." Other Spartan teams go by names like "Blue Team" and "Red Team." Thus, non-Van Lente sources tend to call them "Black Team."
Note that in many of the flashbacks in Halo: Blood Line I#1-4, Victor is depicted as the one who had an affair with Margaret and as the one who lost his eye - when it was actually Otto who had the affair and Margaret who lost her eye; the true versions of events are only briefly seen in issue #4. In general, the flashbacks in the series are not entirely reliable.

The abrupt deaths of Victor-101 and the rest of Spartan Team Black in Dark Horse's Halo: Escalation after they'd taken the license from Marvel was widely seen in Halo fandom as a huge slap in the face to the Marvel comics; given that the at the end of Blod Line the team was facing a battle against impossible odds, they could have simply been assumed to have died at Line Installion 1-4 unless someone had a story to tell about them; this was further compounded by the fact that they were killed by the Didact, whom Halo fandom widely considered the franchise's most underwhelming attempt at a nemesis for the Spartans. The Didact had already been depicted killing thousands of humans in an instant during the game Halo 4, but I guess someone thought he needed more shilling?
