History:

(Comedy Comics I#12/8) - Ulysses Jr. was an adventurous young man in New Jersey who lived near the Hudson River. One day he was playing with a bow and arrow and accidentally fired it into the window of Bull the butcher. Fleeing Bull, Ulysses Jr. jumped aboard a bot headed across the Hudson River. However, a storm rose up at sea and Ulysses Jr. was washed overboard.

    Ulysses Jr. awoke on an island in a fantastic realm. Ulysses Jr. confronted a monster soon after waking up, but the "monster" proved to be the size of a dog and was a little girl anemd Zippke's pet. Just then, Ulysses Jr. saw everyone on the island was raising their hands. The "monster" explained they were being victimized by the Furorsolergehnindrert, a giant monster who repeatedly robbed the people of the island. The Furorsolergehnindrert attacked Ulysses Jr., but the resourceful boy put a mousetrap on the creature's fingers. The Furorsolergehnindrert grabbed Zippke and threatend it would eat her, but Ulysses Jr. threw a porcupine down its throat. Next, Ulysses Jr. lead the Furorsolergehnindrert into a beehive inside a house where it was stung and became so swollen it couldn't escape the house.

    Next, the Furorsolergehnindrert's own pet monster, the Schicklegrubagrave appeared, claiming it was hungry for children. Pulling out a pocket mirror, Ulysses Jr. showed the Schicklegrubagrave it was an ugly creature. Horrified, the Schicklegrubagrave jumped out of its own skin and landed on the Furorsolergehnindrert, apparently crushing it to death.

    With the Furorsolergehnindrert and Schicklegrubagrave beaten, Ulysses Jr. built a boat so he could set on his way; Zippke came with him, along with her pet monster.

    Ulysses Jr.'s story was full of gags and fourth-wall breaking moments, such as when the narrator claimed the Furorsolergehnindrert rode on a Whizzbang: "A Whizzbang is a sort of half-fish, half bird an' half bicycle... it's difficult to draw in this limited space."

    The last panel claimed Ulysses Jr. would return in the next issue of Comedy Comics but he didn't.
