History:
(Yellow Claw I#4/5) - As part of a scientific experiment, Barnaby Wade began honing his thoughts and found that he could create a solid construct of whatever he focused his mind upon. His hometown of Riverdale became a veritable sideshow as locals discovered a hen as large as a sheep, an elephant no larger than a kitten, a railroad line that hovered in the air, a dinosaur, a boat and recreations of the Sphinx and the Statue of Liberty.
Word of the unusual effects of Wade's experiment reached the ears of the Yellow Claw and his aide Fritz von Voltzmann. Visiting Wade in his home he confirmed that he was the one responsible for the constructs in Riverdale but he admitted that using his powers left him very weak. The Yellow Claw offered to help him replenish his strength and immediately took him to his base in upper Canada aboard a fast travelling jet. The Yellow Claw supplied Wade with Vitamin X which made him feel stronger and more alert - and thus better able to wield his psychic powers.
Under the Yellow Claw's order, Wade created a "thought lion" and projected it into the quarters of FBI agent Jimmy Woo, the Yellow Claw's archenemy. Woo slew the lion and the Claw's niece Suwan contacted him to warn him about Wade. The Yellow Claw next ordered Wade to conjure up an army of soldiers and he did so, but Wade discovered he couldn't control the soldiers and they started to restrain the Yellow Claw and the Thought Master. Just then Jimmy Woo and Suwan arrived and started to fight the soldiers. During the resulting confusion the Yellow Claw fled his base, abandoning the Thought Master. Finally, the Thought Master used his mind to force the soldiers to vanish. Now deprived of Vitamin X, Wade once again felt weak but Jimmy Woo advised him not to use the pills again because the Yellow Claw was using them to place Wade under his control.
Comments: Created by Jack Kirby and John Severin.
If Jack Kirby meant uppercase "Upper Canada" in his script then the Yellow Claw's base was probably in the Great Lakes area. If he meant lowercase "upper Canada" then maybe he was thinking of the Northwest Territories.
