History:

(Kickers, Inc. I#6) - On December 14, 1986, after members of Kickers, Inc. were involved in an airplane hijacking, the C.I.A. sent agents Peter Gray and Scott Templar to debrief the Kickers. Examining the plane's cockpit, Templar found a scrap of cloth from Jack Magniconte's shirt where he'd been shot at point blank range by the hijacker, yet survived. Templar kept the evidence as the C.I.A. took an interest in Magniconte's paranormal abilities.

(Kickers, Inc. I#8) - On January 25, 1987, Scott Templar shadowed Jack Magniconte as Jack faced a drug-testing scandal caused by his paranormal abilities.

(Kickers, Inc. I#12) - On June 6, 1987, Templar was in his Manhattan office, going over a series of photographs recently taken of Jack Magniconte which seemed to support Templar's belief that Magniconte was a paranormal with superhuman strength. Templar met with Meyers, a reporter who had been assisting him. Meyers delivered a set of photographs of Magniconte and Kickers, Inc. getting into a bar brawl with members of the Alberta Icecutters hockey team. Templar sent Meyers to be present when the Kickers and Icecutters were released from jail and plant the idea that the two of them should compete against each other in a charity event. Meyers encouaraged other reports to pick up his suggestion and under public pressure, Kickers, Inc. agreed to the charity event, as Templar had hoped.

On June 20, 1986, the Kickers competed against the Icecutters in a relay race through the Albertan wilderness. Magniconte was the last of the Kickers to run in the race and his route took him near a cabin where Templar had set up an observation facility which he operated from a bunker beneath the cabin. By flashing lights in the sky, Templar drew Magniconte near the cabin. Using projectors from the cabin, Templar created holograms of flying saucers and extraterrestrials that seemed to be threatening Meyers. Magniconte grabbed Meyers and tried to bring him into the cabin, only to be faced by a hologram of Bigfoot. Magniconte tried to attack Bigfoot but as it was only a projection of light he smashed into the wall of the cabin, breaking some of Templar's machinery and starting a fire. Confused, Magniconte left the cabin and finished the race, but came in second. When Magniconte claimed he'd seen aliens and Bigfoot his friends doubted his story, just as Templar had hoped. Magniconte took them to the cabin but the fire Magniconte had started destroyed the facility. Once they left, Templar and Meyers emerged from the bunker beneath the cabin. Templar now had a complete recording of Magniconte demonstrating his superhuman strength.

(D.P.7 I#21/2 (fb)) - Scott Templar finally confronted Jack Magniconte with the evidence he had that Jack was a parnormal. Templar tried to force Magniconte to become an agent for the C.I.A. or else his status as a paranormal would become known. Magniconte said he refused to kill for the C.I.A. but Templar informed him he'd already killed for the C.I.A. - when he was on San Leandro. To avoid joining the C.I.A., Magniconte decided to enlist in the U.S. Army, where he was given the costumed identity of the All-American.

In D.P.7 I#21/2, when Templar tells Magniconte that he'd killed on behalf of the C.I.A., a footnote indicates it had happened in Kickers, Inc. I#11. The mission Magniconte went on for the C.I.A. was actually in Kickers, Inc. I#10.

In Kickers, Inc. I#12, Templar viewed photographs of Magniconte representing events from Kickers, Inc. I#7, 10 and 11.
