History:
(Daring Mystery Comics I#6 (fb) - BTS) - Captain Strohm was an experienced German submarine commander. He developed a reputation among fellow Nazi operatives as a "destroyer dodger" because of his ease at avoiding detection by enemy vessels.
(Daring Mystery Comics I#6) - In command of the U-9 u-boat, Captain Strohm crossed the Atlantic Ocean without being detected, transporting three German agents who were going to infiltrate the USA. He surfaced in the Hudson River, near New Jersey and met with the Nazi fifth columnist spies Friedrich Broen and Gustav Shultz, who received the three spies, planning to use them as sleeper agents for an eventual conquest of the USA. Broen and Shultz told Strohm that in the future, he'd travel freely through the Hudson River when the country fell to Germany. Captain Strohm departed in U-9.
Later, Shultz and his allies were defeated by the costumed hero Marvel Boy in their den. Marvel Boy forced Shultz to get on his radio and contact U-9, sending coordinates to the submarine to follow a course which led them into the clutches of the FBI. The FBI presumably detained Captain Strohm and his crew, detaining U-9 in the Navy Yard (likely Brooklyn Navy Yard).

Captain Strohm should not be confused with:
Richter was a member of the U-9 crew who served under Captain Strohm. When Friedrich Broen and Gustav Shultz rendezvoused with the U-9, Strohm had Richter use a megaphone to hail their allies and summon them to the side of the submarine. Richter would have been arrested by the FBI.

U-9 was the German u-boat commanded by Captain Strohm. Richter was one of the ship's crew. Captain Strohm commanded U-9 on a voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, evading enemy crafts so that he could smuggle three German spies on to U.S. shores. U-9 rendezvoused with the Nazi fifth columnists Friedrich Broen and Gustav Shultz near New Jersey and delivered the three spies to them. Captain Strohm departed in U-9 but when Shultz was caught by the hero Marvel Boy he forced him to send coordinates to U-9 which led the submarine into an FBI ambush. The U-9 was apparently detained in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
