History:
(War Comics I#5/3) - Sgt. Sam Storm was one of the U.S. Army soldiers placed in the occupational force in Germany, serving in Bremen. One of his fellow soldiers was Private Mickey McBurn. Both men became enamored of Mara Talen, a nightclub singer. The two both attended one of Mara Talen's performances and became so enthused at declaring their love for her that they fell into a fistfight with each other, then with the nightclub's staff. The Military Police arrived to break up the fight and Sgt. Storm was brought to see his superior officer, Colonel Hastings.
Sgt. Storm feared he was about to lose his stripes, but instead Colonel Hastings revealed the Army suspected Mara Talen was a spy smuggling information to the USSR. Rather than discipline Storm, Hastings wanted him to continue seeing Mara Talen and find proof of how she was smuggling out information. When Storm caught up to her, he found Private McBurn was with her while she recorded songs onto records. Storm quickly proved that Mara Talen's records actually contained classified information and the men helping her with the recordings were Soviet spies. Storm and McBurn bested Mara's allies but Mara drew a gun on them. Seeing she was standing on a recording turntable, Storm activated the turntable, causing her to lose her balance and drop the gun.
The next day, after Mara Talen and her associates had been arrested, Private McBurn noticed a new woman in town and soon both men were quarreling over which of them would approach her.
(War Comics I#6) - In time, Sgt. Storm and Private McBurn were both reassigned to fight in the Korea War. On their way to Korea, the men stayed in Tokyo, Japan for two days. Storm set up a date in Tokyo with Noreen, a WAC. When he discovered Noreen was meeting with another man, Storm instead went to see the Japanese woman Tokyo Tillie, but he quickly surmised she was trying to get information from him about when his outfit would leave for Korea. Tokyo Tillie summoned two alies who quickly knocked out Storm.
Private McBurn showed up for a date with Tokyo Tillie and Storm revived, warning McBurn of their situation. Together the two men defeated Tillie and her allies, turning them over to the authorities. Storm hoped that word of his heroics would allow him to impress Noreen and chase off whoever else she was seeing. Seeking out Noreen, Storm saw her kissing another man. Thinking it was McBurn, Storm kicked him in the rear - only to discover it was an Army colonel. The colonel sent Storm to the guardhouse as punishment.
(War Comics I#7/2) - Finally arrived in Korea, Sgt. Storm and McBurn served under Captain Kelsey, who sent them out to scout the north of Hill 20. Both men complained to each other that the stormy weather made it a less than ideal time to go on patrol. Discovering a patrol of Chinese soldiers, Storm and McBurn attacked them; to their surprise, they were joined by Fan Toy, a Chinese guerrilla leader, who had brought her force to engage against the Chinese Army. When the enemy were defeated, Fan Toy brought them to her camp and kissed both men.
Unsurprisingly, Storm and McBurn were soon quarreling with each other over Fan Toy. However, this outraged Fan Toy's followers, who didn't want her to be involved with either man; when they told Storm and McBurn they would kill the one she loved, both men suddenly declared the other was the one she loved. When Fan Toy returned and offered to kiss them again, both men shrank away, preferring instead to join the guerrillas in another attack on Chinese forces. Storm, McBurn and the guerrillas arrived just as their own outfit was under attack. Storm and McBurn rescued their men then quickly parted ways from Fan Toy. Returning to Captain Kelsey, they told him about their adventure with the guerrillas; Kelsey accused them of drinking on duty and put them on ktichen duty.

Private Mickey McBurn was Sam Storm's best friend and frequent romantic rival; he was originally from Brooklyn, New York. McBurn tended to clash with Storm over women, as they tended to fall in love with the same woman, including Mara Talen, Noreen, Tokyo Tillie and Fan Toy. McBurn had adventures with Storm in Germany, Japan and Korea.
