History: (Squadron Supreme I#8 (fb) - BTS) - Madeline was already married to Stanley Stewart when he acquired his superhuman speed. Stewart, then a mail carrier and recreational runner, passed through a dense, slightly luminescent fog bank while running along a country road. Upon emerging, he discovered that his perception of time had been altered so that the world around him seemed to move in slow motion. He subsequently found himself able to run increasingly faster and farther, and six weeks later broke the sound barrier during a 200-mile run.
(Squadron Supreme I#8 (fb)) - Stewart decided to use his newfound abilities as a costumed crimefighter and initially considered calling himself the Boomer. Madeline talked him out of the name, and he instead became the Whizzer and eventually joined the super-heroic team known as the Squadron Supreme.
(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Madeline and Stanley had a daughter, Tina.
(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Living in a house in the suburbs of Mechanopolis, Sigmund, Stanley built an emergency shelter.
(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Stan was away from home for 2 weeks while under control of the Null-possessed Over-Mind and surveiling the world's status in the aftermath of its world takeover. With phone systems down, they could not communicate.
(Squadron Supreme I#1 (fb) - BTS) - While their suburban area was less affected by the chaos from the recent conflicts, Maddy and Tina took refuge in their emergency shelter.
(Squadron Supreme I#1 - BTS) - After the Squadron had voted to resolve their world's current chaos via implementing the Utopia Program, Stan traveled to Mechanopolis to visit his family.
(Squadron Supreme I#1 - BTS) - After Stanley opened the shelter's hidden door, Maddy and Tina greeted him, and Maddy noted her worry. Stan explained why he had been unable to communicate with her, but as Maddy and Tina hugged him, she told him to hold her and never let go.
(Squadron Supreme I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Madeline and Tina enjoyed a one-day leave from his Squadron-duties with Stan.
(Squadron Supreme I#5) - As Stan bade Maddy and Tina farewell, Maddy noted that his one-day leaves seemed to pass so quickly and occur so infrequently.
While she appreciated all that he was doing and told him that she was proud of him, she wished that he could come home every night.
(Squadron Supreme I#5 (fb) - BTS) - Madeline and their daughter Tina were abducted by the Institute of Evil as part of a coordinated attack upon the Squadron's families. Arcanna's husband, Phillip, and the Jones children, Power Princess' husband, Howard Shelton, and Blue Eagle's mother, Adrienne Dore, were similarly captured and imprisoned at the Institute's headquarters.
(Squadron Supreme I#5) - The Institute intended to use the captives to force members of the Squadron to submit to their Behavior Modification device. Upon learning that Madeline and Tina had been abducted, the Whizzer fled Squadron headquarters to determine whether the threat was genuine.
(Squadron Supreme I#5 (fb) - BTS) - While the Whizzer was gone, the Institute seemingly used the B-Mod device to put the Squadron under their control.
(Squadron Supreme I#5) - After confirming his family's disappearance, he armed himself and returned to attack the Institute on his own, but he was defeated.
The Squadron ultimately overcame the Institute after revealing that Tom Thumb had built a safeguard into the B-Mod device that prevented it from altering Squadron members. Madeline, Tina and the other captives were subsequently freed.
(Squadron Supreme I#6 (fb) - BTS) - The Squadron later pardoned the Whizzer for abandoning them upon learning of his family's capture. Construction was meanwhile completed on Squadron City, where members of the Squadron and their families could live together under greater protection.
(Squadron Supreme I#6 (fb) - BTS) - Madeline and Stanley moved their home to Squadron City in the hope of regaining some semblance of a normal married life. However, although the Squadron had forgiven Stanley for his actions during the Institute's attack, he remained ashamed of having deserted his teammates. Madeline believed that Stanley had not forgiven himself and had begun taking his feelings out on her.
(Squadron Supreme I#6) - Shortly after moving to Squadron City, Madeline discussed her marital problems with Arcanna. Though she acknowledged that the two women scarcely knew one another, Madeline explained Stanley's continuing guilt. Arcanna advised her to give Stanley more time and suggested that Madeline might discuss the situation with one of the Squadron's staff psychotherapists. Tina meanwhile became friendly with Arcanna and Phillip Jones' children, Drusilla, Katrina and Andrew.
(Squadron Supreme I#7) - Madeline and Stanley later visited Phillip and Arcanna at their home. During the visit, the couples discussed the recent passing of Power Princess' elderly husband. Maddy noted that Howard had been in his seventies and in ill health, and that Zarda must have been prepared for it to happen sooner or later. As they discussed Zarda's increasing closeness to Hyperion, Madeline remarked that she had always thought Power Princess and Hyperion would make a good couple.
(Squadron Supreme I#9) - Madeline joined Arcanna and Phillip in watching Stanley play tennis against Lamprey at Squadron City's Richmond Field. She noted that Stanley had been an avid tennis player before acquiring his superhuman speed, but afterward could find no ordinary player capable of competing with him. By siphoning off some of Stanley's speed, Lamprey was able to make the match competitive. Madeline remarked that she had not seen her husband have so much fun in years. While the adults watched the match, Tina and the Jones children played with Shape.
(Squadron Supreme I#12) - Madeline hosted Doctor Spectrum for breakfast at the Stewart home, serving him and her family while wearing a T-shirt identifying her as "SUPER MOM."
When Spectrum revealed that he had been seeing Foxfire romantically, Madeline encouraged the relationship, joking that the Squadron Spouses Association could use some new members. She also had Stanley's Whizzer uniform dry-cleaned and ready for him when he was unexpectedly called to a Squadron meeting.
Later that day, the Squadron's conflict with Nighthawk's Redeemers brought the Utopia Program to an end. Madeline and Tina survived the battle that claimed the lives of several Squadron members and Redeemers.
(Squadron Supreme: New World Order (fb) - BTS) - The Squadron subsequently left Earth-712 and became stranded for several years on Earth-616. By the time they finally returned, the world they had left behind had fallen under the control of the authoritarian Global Directorate, whose Blue Eagles served as its paramilitary police force.
(Squadron Supreme: New World Order) - Upon returning to Earth-712, Whizzer immediately went in search of Madeline and Tina.
Whizzer found his wife and daughter being held by the Blue Eagles, who threatened them in an attempt to force his surrender. Before the Blue Eagles could take him into custody, members of the resistance movement known as the Nighthawks intervened and rescued Madeline and Tina. The Nighthawks initially refused to allow Whizzer to accompany his family, but after the Squadron allied itself with the resistance, the new Nighthawk reunited Stanley with Madeline and Tina on Utopia Isle.
(Squadron Supreme IV#9 - BTS) - Earth-712 was later destroyed. Madeline's individual fate was not depicted, but she is presumed to have perished along with the other inhabitants of her world.

The Squadron Spouses Association appears to have been an informal social association rather than an officially organized body. Madeline's remark in Squadron Supreme I#12 indicates that the spouses and partners of Squadron members regarded themselves as a recognizable group. Phillip Jones and Howard Shelton were among the other spouses associated with this circle.
Madeline's "SUPER MOM" shirt is particularly appropriate. Although she was primarily a civilian supporting character, Gruenwald repeatedly depicted her managing the ordinary work of marriage, parenthood, meals, friendships and domestic life in the middle of the Squadron's increasingly extraordinary Utopia Program.
Mark Gruenwald really hit this
series out of the park. There was so much characterization, not just to
the otherwise previously unexplored generic Justice League homage team
members, but also to their family members and even minor characters in
the story.

Madeline also anticipated "OK, boomer"
by more than three decades. The phrase became popular in the late 2010s
as a dismissive response to stereotypically out-of-touch members of the
Baby Boomer generation. In Squadron Supreme I#8 (1986), Stanley's first idea for his superhero name was the Boomer. Madeline's response was considerably more practical: she talked him out of it.
Is "Whizzer" much better?--Snood
While Reality-712 was
apparently destroyed, there's often an alternate/divergent reality
where it did not survive. Additionally, Franklin Richards could have
restored it the time period following the Multiverse's apparent
destruction.
