Powers/Abilities: As a Skrull, Samuel can change
alter his form into virtually anything he can imagine, apparently even
adopting massive volumes much larger than his own. It is unrevealed
whether he can alter his mass as well and/or assume any of the abilities
of beings whose form he adopts.
History: 
(Impossible Man Summer Vacation Spectacular#2/3 (fb) - BTS) -
Samuel J. Skrull was sent to invade Earth, but his ship crashed in the
Savage Land.
To the people of the land, he appeared to fall from the sky. They assumed Samuel to be a god, and they built a temple for him and worshipped him. To entertain the natives, Samuel occasionally turned himself into a woolly mammoth or something. Samuel had such a good time there, he couldn't bring himself to leave.
(Impossible Man Summer Vacation Spectacular#2/3 -
BTS) - When the Impossible Woman and her Impossible Kids -- with the
Impossible Man having traveled separately and earlier to Earth and
searching in other locations -- arrived in the Savage Land in search of
her missing son (#4682), Ka-Zar told her that he had heard tales of a
green man who was said to have fallen from the sky and could turn into
anything. He then led the them to the Temple of the Green Man, which was
guarded by a Tyrannosaurus rex and which the Impossible Kids knocked over
a cliff.
(Impossible Man Summer Vacation Spectacular#2/3) - The Impossible Woman asked to go in first to see if the Green Man was her child, and she was surprised to find that he was instead a Skrull. Samuel J. Skrull then introduced himself and related how he came to be there. He admitted the life of a god to be a lonely one, and he told her that it would be nice to have others like himself to talk to. After he noted that the Skrulls would never take him back after his failure, the Impossible Woman asked if he could make himself look like an Imp (one of the Impossible Kids), which he easily demonstrated. Impressed that he had even gotten the color right, the Impossible Woman asked him if he would like to join up with her family. After he told her he would love to, he departed with Impossible Kids within the pouch of the giant Impossible Woman in kangaroo form.
(Impossible Man Summer Vacation Spectacular#2/5 "Everything's Happening
at the Zoo" - BTS) - With the rest of the Impossible Family, Samuel
presumably attended the Marvel Animation Matinee and then went a
zoo, where they had a number of adventures before helping draw
crowds to help keep the zoo open.
(Impossible Man Summer Vacation Spectacular#2/6) -
As one of the Impossible Kids, Samuel joined his new family in going to
Maxie's for the performance of Impy and the Wimpy Gimps (featuring Imp
Kid), which the Impossible Woman correctly suspected of being her missing
son.
After the whole family had been reunited (and thrown out of Maxie's), the
Impossible Man rushed over and picked up Samuel, mistaking him for #4682
(until the Impossible Woman revealed who he was and how they found
him...and Sammy showed his true form.
Hugging Samuel, the Impossible Woman told her husband
that she had decided to adopt him, and the Impossible Man replied that
that was fine with him.
Sammy smiled as the real #4682 reunited with his
father and told him of his plans to take their band on a 96 galaxy tour,
serenading every inhabited planet they could find. After the Impossible
Man and Woman approved, the Impossible Woman took the form a "Magic Bus,"
and they headed out, with all of them singing, "To
Dream the Impossible Dream..."

When I
was a kid, I was a fan of the cartoon series, Rocky and Bullwinkle. And
on that show, Rocky‘s full name was Rocket J Squirrel. So the J in
Samuel J. Skrull is just my little homage to a classic cartoon character
that I enjoyed as a kid.

The above
information prompted me to see what the "J" in Rocky's name stood for, and
according to his Wikipedia page, for whatever that's worth, both Rocky and
Bullwinkle had the middle "J." This was a reference to producer and
co-creator Jay Ward.
This profile was
completed 03/03/2026, but
its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 25th
anniversary 's celebratory event.
