History:

(Black Order#2 (fb) - BTS) - The source and nature of his powers unrevealed, Silver Scythe was a member of the Resistance on Sinnar, fighting against Emperor Attican and his "army of madmen" for years.

The members of the Resistance saw their families slaughtered and their friends murdered.

While on a secret mission,  members of the Resistance members Armored Angel, Grim Archer and Insect-by-Night were caught, imprisoned and sentenced to death.

(Black Order#2 - BTS) <The day before the Resistance was to be executed> - Under a mission from the Grandmaster to obtain the Bow of Gabriel, the Black Order landed on Sinnar, but they were captured by Emperor Attican's forces and imprisoned.

(Black Order#2) - After the Black Order was taken to their cell, they encountered Armored Angel, Grim Archer and Insect-by-Night. When the Black Order members prepared to try to force information on the Sinnarian Empire's cosmic weapon, which they used to bring entire planets to heel in a matter of hours, Krannig the Peacemaker arrived -- alongside Silver Scythe, the Foot, Punch-Fist and Witchling-at-Twilight -- in a burst of energy to rescue their Resistance teammates and broke up the fight. Despite a warning from Grim Archer that their cellmates were killers and cutthroats that should be left to the executioner's axe, Krannig -- who was willing to ally with anyone who could help stop Attican -- decided to take them with them as allies against Attican's forces. The Black Order thusly joined the Resistance back at a base on an unnamed moon.

The Black Order readily admitted that they cared nothing for the Resistance, but that their goals were aligned as they wished to kill Attican and destroy the Sinnarian Empire. Krannig told the Order that to do so they would need to destroy the Bow of Gabriel, which he explained to have been a former weapon of Gabriel the Air-Walker:

A single arrow of the bow, fired into a planet's core, unleashed a terraforming wave called the dark tide, which terraformed the planet's minerals, making them hypernutritious for Galactus to consume while also warping the population, ensuring that they became docile and accepting of their fate.

Long thought lost, the Bow fell into King Attican's grasp seven years ago, which led to his having an ever-expanding empire and billions of loyal subjects.

(Black Order#2 - BTS) - The Black Order secretly resolved to claim the Bow for themselves, rebuilding the former Black Quadrant into the Black Galaxy or the Black Universe.silver_scythe-resistance-sinnar-bo3-stabbed

(Black Order#3) - With the Resistance having teleported themselves and the Black Order, Corvus Glaive told Krannig that this wormhole technology was like none he had ever seen. Scythe warned Maw that they wouldn't be sharing it with them, but Krannig silenced him. Krannig shared that the technology had been developed on his homeworld and that Attican had stolen it when he conquered his people, and now he used it to open a doorway to any part of the universe. Via this wormhole technology, the Sinnarian Empire would spread unchecked, unless Attican was stopped.

After Krannig further detailed the power and nature of the Bow of Gabriel and its arrows, Glaive asked its location so that the Black Order could strip him of that weapon. Krannig asked Glaive that if it were that easy to claim the weapon, didn't he think they would have done that already. When Glaive retorted that he had assumed that they had tried but failed miserably, Silver Scythe challenged Glaive to a fight, but Krannig calmed both men. Krannig then told them that they had learned of a shipment of Onducium -- the metal from which the arrows of the Bow of Gabriel were forged -- that was scheduled to come through one of the wormholes within hours. Silver Scythe was to take a team to intercept the shipment, by which they would prevent the use of the Bow of Gabriel.

However, the Resistance was then ambushed by assassins. Krannig was dropped, and Silver Scythe was soon at the mercy of one of the assassins. Corvus Glaive slew the assassin, saving Silver Scythe, who considered that maybe he had been wrong about him. As Scythe took his hand, however, Glaive stabbed a dagger into his chest with his other hand, telling him, "Maybe you weren't."

(Black Order#3 - BTS) - When the badly injured Krannig asked about Scythe, Glaive told him that he had died valiantly. Appreciating that the assassins had been trying to slay the Order as much as the Resistance, Krannig passed on the coordinates to Glaive, and the Black Order intercepted the Onducium shipment.

Comments: Created by Derek Landy, Philip Tan and Harvey Tolibao.

The Sinnarian Empire spanned numerous worlds, and the Resistance appeared to include members of various races conquered by the Empire, rather than just all being Sinnarians.
Given his skin and hair color, Silver Scythe would not appear to be a Sinnarian, but perhaps whatever gave him his powers changed the color of his flesh and hair.
